Not only would I read a manga adaptation, I have one.

X-Men: Misfits is a re-imaging of Professor X's school as a setting for a shoujo romance. Kitty Pryde is the first female student at the recently all-boys' school. She meets Angel, the prince of the school, the hot older teacher Magneto, Beast, and Nightcrawler among others. She finds herself torn between bad-boy Pyro and straight-arrow Iceman. It is a treat. The only negative is that the planned second volume was cancelled, so the one volume is incomplete.

Would I read another? I'm not so much into comic books anymore, haven't been for years, but if there was something else like X-Men: Misfits, I'd snap it up.

I might try it:
Greatly depends on the degree of creative freedom allowed to the mangaka - so absolutely "no way" for something extremely restrictive like Superman, but "Yes, Of course!" for something completely free like Hellina, Dejah Thoris or the ones from the Heavy Metal magazine.

Would probably be better than today's American comics mainly the big 1 (DC & Marvel). They are complete shit. Terrible writing, hamfisted politics, and atrocious art. Taking a character and race/gender bending it doesn't make it better. Also don't get me started on the character they have turned gay. (And no, I don't have a problem with gay people, I just feel its incredibly insulting how they are used by people who push "diversity" as selling points)

This thread is rubbing me off the wrong way because everybody is referring to the superhero side of comics. But probably this shouldn't be a surprise when the poll was probably released to allude the very same thing. I imagine not everyone interprets the question as "would you read manga adaptation of Superhero X" so I apologise for pointing that out.

As for the question, I'd say yes. In terms of mainstream superheros, I'd quite like to see The Flash with a manga spin. But something more closer to my intrigue for an adaptation will be a comic like Scott Pilgrim.

But even then the comic, Strangers in Paradise which was written by Terry Moore, has your typical dose of Josei and it is literally a gold mine for manga adaptation.

I'd wager that The Walking Dead would be another good one, seeing as the TV series is very solid. Also the first season of the series Preacher debuted this year and despite the high acclaim it is getting, I'd imagine a manga adaptation can be so much better. A little off the point, the manga Sherlock is an adaptation to the TV series and in this case the artist purposely illustrated the manga identical to the series and the artist manages to do so really well. So if a manga adaptation to an excellent series is good, you can be sure a manga adaptation to comic which already has a tv series can be just as good and possibly even better.

In any case, if any adaptation were to be made it really should stand out on it's own without retconing too much, otherwise for me, it becomes challenging to seriously refer to it as an "adaptation".
