Not exactly a "normal" life... well, it might actually be normal for him though, and he kind of has a goal but otherwise Wizardly Tower... (might also be questionable if he is a "hero"

Sadly its a novel but The Lazy Swordmaster (Novel) works. Whether it is set in the future, or a different world, i am not sure. He wants a normal life.
