Dunno if this has been made before... if so, improve your search. .___.;

Anyways...

Anyone you met online, ever met them IRL?

I met up with around <10 of my old Gaia friends. ^^; Half of them lived nearby Toronto so we just met up somewhere [Wonderland, Ontario Place, The Ex, etc etc] and the rest were visiting nearby so we just met up. XD;

Always fun. :] And I'm planning on meeting some of my online colleagues [scanlation groups, and other stuff I work in on other sites] at Anime North. ^_^ I'm prob. gonna go tomorrow or something. xD; I never did buy my ticket. ._.; I lost my chance when I could. ;__; I hate conventions because of the amount of weeaboos there, but for my friends, I'll go. :3

How about you guys? Any site, doesn't matter. :3

Yeah. smile Only once but I met with the person twice
in a year-ish. She was formerly a "long distance" best friend,
but now we barely talk much. She did visit my house with my
parent's consent because we were so close and they knew a lot
about her. ^^ It was fun, and she was gorgeous and normal and
not at all a 40 year old pedophile molestor. o____o;
I met her off of Gaia Online which I quit..like 2 years ago, lol.

One of my old um, guy friends, wanted to meet up with me
but I refused.

Yes, I've met up with plenty online contacts. Mostly at forums meetings but also on cons or just meeting alone. A very few became really close friends which I hold dear although most of the year, they're far away. This New Year was celebrated together with my family and some forums friends as guests.
Next month, we'll have a forums staff meeting at our place with people coming from four different countries, sleeping partly at my place (again) - that will be fun smile

Funny thing is: I've met online contacts from allover the world already. To meet us we go by train and plane and pay expensive travel costs... but, heh... there's my longest online friend, who lives not even half an hour away from my house. We talk nearly daily since over seven years via messenger but we've never met up once IRL although we could walk if we wanted to meet each other - actually we don't even know our voices but I have weekly calls from Asia. Life plays weird tricks sometimes laugh

Then please report them.

As for this thread - we have a similar one here (but it's related to mu only) so I'm letting this one stay.

In case anyone finds out it's a repeat - please report it. Thank you.

Never have, as far as I know. At least there might be some friends on MU that I don't know about. It'd be pretty funny if I ever found out though.

I don't plan on trying, mainly for safety's sake.

I'm part of an AFI forum, and those people are like my second family, so I've met up with a WHOLE bunch of them -- both near where I live and overseas in Europe. We mostly meet up for concerts and such, but there are two people that I've become close with and we hang out whenever possible [which is hard because they live in other states].

I'll only meet people from that forum, though because I've been on it for 1.5 years and have gotten to know everyone. If it were anyone else, I'd probably say no.

Long long ago, before the internet was generally available, I met up with some people from a local BBS. (Yes, I am *that* old. laugh ) While I wouldn't say it was a BAD experience, I wouldn't necessarily recommend it either; it's made me very cautious about meeting people IRL that I've known online.
