I'm looking for a manga with a hero who has a weak or dumb personality, hides his true abilities and shows it when protecting others with the outcome that the one he protects somewhat develops a crush or attachment to him^^.
here are my examples and also my read list
mahou sensei negima
trigun
hayate no gotoku
rurouni kenshin
ai kora
gintama
maken-ki!
etc... you get the point ^^

Thats right. I only read the Shonen Comedy/romance parts first. And after I already had posted it I saw the "hero who has a weak or dumb personality". So my recomendations where a little wrong =P

I don't think Maken Ki really counts because he doesn't know he has this power.
Trigun is one manga. He acts dumb but when needed becomes unstoppable and has two girls that follow him about.

well, already read trigun and even watched the anime, yup this is the kind of manga's/anime i like ^^ anything else?... and about maken ki... well he has power^^ and can save the damsel in distress hehe so it's ok with me... Salamat emperorpogi...

i think Rosario+Vampire is like that but the hero doesn't get real pwerful until after a like 10-20 chapters

I want to suggest Katekyou Hitman Reborn but I think you've already read it since you are using Tsuna as your avatar.
EDIT:
I think Angel Densetsu and Kimagure Orange Road fits with what u want.

In order of my preference:
Mahoraba -> it's not shounen, only comedy, but it's so funny, one of my favourite manga
Mx0 -> the one who fits the most your request imho
Full metal panic -> someone would probably disagree, but Sagara is one of the dumbest guy in the manga world.
Akuma Jiten -> never understood why so underrated
Kekkaishi -> I don't like it, but many people do.
Dna2 -> well sort of
Kana -> only if u don't have anything else to try.
