Uh... I'm atheist, so no, I don't think Jesus is cool. It's a nice story and all, but...

What does being atheist have to do with anything?

If Jesus did actually exist, then he was probably a cool guy. Since I am Buddhist(parents are)/Atheist(science), I don't really believe that Jesus had those powers...but that does not mean that we should admire the things he did do. True he might of lied to everyone that he was god's son and he might have done it to control people but in the end he did help people. And just because you don't believe in his religion or even his existence does not mean that we cannot learn from him.

Polite bump.

He either was a chill guy, or a complete nutcase. Both are possible. o_o I think he actually did exist though, be it religion-wise or not. ... If you transport Jesus into today's world, he'd probably be some hippie anarchist I'm sure. :]

I think it's kind of unfair to call him a liar because even if it was not true, I think that he believed it was true himself (mostly because he never used his power to do anything and also because he never actually claimed to be the son of god, other people just assumed he was: look it up in the gospels if you'd like), so if anything you could call it insanity.

Whether or not people believe in the theological part of his identity, no one can deny that he did some pretty good things as far as preaching that we make nice and dont screw each other over. I definatly think he was a cool guy.

But doesn't anarchy imply that he wants a total state of lawlessness, without a supreme power or enforced authority? I think that's the opposite of what he was trying to teach folks. wink

Never met him, so how should I know?

If he actually lived at some point, he was probably some random crazy mothaflipper, similar to glenn beck.

Never meet the guy but after reading the bible I'll admit that while some of his miracles were nice his personality left much to be desired. He was moody (to say the least) and treated his mother poorly, frankly he was a jerk.

I'm sure he was all about the goodness in the people and their ability to conduct themselves in a morally correct fashion without imposed authority, thus he's an anarchist; and due to the fact people like to stereotype, being anarchist also makes him a hippie

Yes. Go read "Lamb" by Christopher Moore.

I don't believe in god so I don't think he head mystical or divine powers.

so the question is: was he a philosopher who needed an background for his teachings that people would follow or the biggest fraudster in history?

either way.....he must've been pretty cool to some extent.I mean he made people actually believe that he could walk on water and such jokes... laugh

If one were to through all his religious aspects out the window, I'm sure he was just a super chill dude. biggrin

Yeah. If I think about him I'd visualize as a mix of a nowadays old crazy man in ragged clothes with the sign "The end of the world is near" and a Hippie ("peace man" V sign) XD
