Same here as mellow, I got into manga because I was into anime... I actually was into anime for a looooong looong time, just didn't know that it was any different from spider man and batman, they where all cartoons to me. I was watching DBZ, Kimagure Orange road, Saint seiya, and other stuff that was on TV when I was a kid.
First time I read a manga was Dragon Ball, borrowed them from a friend.
First subbed anime (along with the discovery of what was anime) was probably Love Hina. First scanlations was Berserk. I was going into an anime frenzy by that time, and after watching Berserk I had a feeling that I was missing something, that feeling kept bugging me until I discovered that the manga was still ongoing. And then I transformed into a manga addict, and barely watches anime anymore. (Specially after discovering that half the animes I watched were messed up versions of the manga: Berserk, Kenshin, Flame of recca, etc... to name a few)
Oh and heardtheowl, I have a pretty convenient memory... I'm a guy that could forget my parents faces if I didn't meet them everyday (same goes with voices). So It doesn't bother me at all, what I started first... (I'm exaggerating a little about my parents though... you know)

plus, sometime anime changes totally different from the original. The original is more specific etc... sometime when i read the manga after the anime 'accidentally' i don't get a thing.. -_-

I can't think of an anime I've watched first, partly because I'm just more of a reader than a tv-watcher, and partly because until last summer I was on dialup.
I did start reading Kimi wa Petto manga after watching the dorama, though.

I just remembered - "Howl's Moving Castle". After watching that (I love Ghiblis!!) I read the book it was based on. It wasn't manga, though.
