Gmail is awesome!

When I was applying for vacation work and graduate positions, I needed an email address that was professional, not childish like my existing hotmail address. So I checked out gmail and found that I could insert a full stop between my first and last name, which I thought looked much better than an underslash. Plus 'gmail' looks better on a resume than 'hotmail' does. laugh
Gmail also makes attaching documents quicker and easier.

I know that recently, and for the better, hotmail updated its services to match those of gmail. But I still prefer gmail if I want my emails to look 'professional' (e.g. when applying for jobs) because it never attaches those nasty little ads at the bottom of emails like hotmail does.

lol, no it doesn't. It's actually the exact opposite. Gmail has a reputation as being free mail so employees hate that. laugh But you got in because of your exellent qualities.
When I apply for something, I use three paid email. biggrin But never Gmail. That is a big no-no

It is fast and has very little spam. It also groups the "conversations" together so everything is organize. Why wouldn't it be popular.

*shrugs* Because google is big? The conversations are nice to group the messages together so you don't have a gazillion messages in your inbox. I use both gmail and hotmail.

Really? I did not know that. laugh All my friends use gmail for applications - it was even recommended in the career directions guide published by our faculty. What's three paid mail?

Google is crazily big so practically any product by them kinda has an "appeal" to it. It's kinda like Nintendo I think. They can kinda release anything they want and as long as it isn't a total piece of crap, it'll still be used because it has that sort of appeal. Gmail does have a lot of memory and stuff though and it's free and simple so it probably doesn't fall into the "appeal"-only category.

...Because anything google touches turns to gold?

I have a gmail, but I still use hotmail mainly because that was my first email, and because I guess I just got too used to the layout to bother with gmail.

probably has to do something with the 6GB (and counting) seemingly limitless amount of storage...user-friendly interface, simple, direct, fast....directly chat on the same web page...

Are you stating that it's an exception? Because if you are, then I agree.

Chrome sucks. It makes other sites malfunction on different browsers (YouTube wouldn't work with Firefox after I downloaded Chrome), and when you download something, it don't even fully download half of the time (Like pictures or video clips. It just finished and saved it as "File" ) .

I dunno you might just be an exception to all those weird stuff. I downloaded Chrome when it was in Beta, deleted it, then installed it again when it went out of beta. My Firefox and everything works find. I don't really use it much though cause I don't like how they keep track of tons of tabs but I think that it's not that bad.

It just came outta beta so there's bound to be bugs and crap happening. As xtr3m3dude said, give it a few more months. This Google product actually got out of Beta... I don't think they'll give up on it now.

You could be right.

I'll download it again in a few months on another computer and if it doesn't have the problems that I experienced, then I'll download it to my main computer.
