I am also using Excel for this. I keep the manga names, the chapters that I downloaded, the chapters that I read, the total number of chapters of the manga, it's status (completed/ongoing), scanlators.

It's would be very nice to have such a system here because it's a real headache to download/upload the excel file each time I change it.

Pfffft, and you call yourselves manga fans? Man, kids these days. You guys need a "back in my day" speech...

Eye Kid, Eye Kid!... biggrin

The mangas I really, I mean really like I follow each chapter release religiously like a raving lunatic. I re-read it in my free time (read: I don't have free time, I'm actually getting rainchecks on my sleeping time, will I catch up to when I finally croak).

The mangas I simply "really like" I read till the current chapter, then I forget about it for 3-9 months or so, when I get the volumes/chapters that I missed, and restart reading everything from chapter 1.

The rest I simply read the first couple of chapters and wait for it to finish. By that time I'll read the first volume and judge whether it's worth to continue or not.

See? No notepaddy Excellish thingymajig that could dissapear with a simple delete button for me. Heck, don't even rely on my brains for it cool I simply proceed mechanically bigrazz

I do have "Complete", "In progress", and "Meh" folders to keep those files in though.

Things are a lot easier with books though: "Oh, I only have XYZ title up until volume 367, I need to go buy volumes 368-369". I never leave an unread book idle for long, and I always wait till at least 2 new volumes are out, since I buy them in pairs.

I make use of ACDSee's very helpful "description" function. I note whether it's the latest chapter I've read or the latest released or whether I'd rather delete it later.

As to how I make note of what manga I'm currently reading, I just, yknow, remember thru instinct.

I use sticky notes(The computer program one) it quite useful for mangas that catch my interest but aren't my favorites but for my favorites mangas I just remember them.

I'm more basic than you guys apparently... I usually read through a manga till it's current then maybe forget about it for weeks - months... Then one day if I'm searching around the folder (not surprisingly entitled: Manga) and happen to look at the folder and go "I wonder what happens next"... and look for it again.

On the bright side, there's always something new for me to read I suppose... lol

I had the common sense to type it all down on a notepad.

The list has grown so big...

If you're wondering, I think my last count on volumes read was 1,600-1,700.

i used to just keep it to my memory, but now i make a list in word so i know which ones to check.
But the main ones that i read i don't put into that list since i check for those pretty much everyday...so my list is pretty much for the less popular ones that don't get updated every week with translations, so yeah...

I keep a list of the mangas I have read. It's a MS Word document that lists the manga title & the Ch.'s/Vols. I read of the manga.I also note whether or not it's a hentai manga (so as not to reccomend those to younger readers).

Something like.....

Marmalade Boy--[complete]--8 Vols. (Wataru Yoshizumi)
CardCaptor Sakura--[complete]--12 Vols. & 2 Short Stories (CLAMP)
Super Taboo--[complete]--6 Issues (hentai mangas!)
Super Taboo Extreme---[complete]--6 Issues (hentai mangas)
Diver Down--[*BSSM* doujin--hentai!] (Black Dog)

Get the picture? biggrin bigrazz biggrin

I just seperate the manga under its own name/folder and while I'm downloading handle most of the work. I go as far as making folder names like "V1" or "Ch1" under the title of the manga. Making a list is to much of a hassle.

I only keep manga that I like. When a manga gets completed, then I burn it. So even though I might not remember all that I've read, I just go and check out what's been released today. If it matches what I have on my computer, I download it.

i have a nifty folder on my desktop called "Manga" and in that folder i have different folders seperating the different series i have, and in those folders i have them seperated into volumes then i have them seperated into chapters....

still it may seem hard for me to keep track that way, but i try to finish at the end of a volume then i keep em for later enjoyment

I have my folder with mangá, and I just check here everyday, 'cause it's easy to recognize the titles, so I see a new chap, check the last one I have, and go dl the new one.

Umm... notepad?

The lamest yet most simple way to do this.
At first, I though that this was just kinda pointless, until I found myself frantically trying to remember what the hell was the last volume of xxxHOLiC I've read...

Always keeping track of that stuff since then.

Wow, you people are all so orginaised.
Well, the stuff i like i keep. But since i have 2 computers with stuff on both of them it is already a mess. The stuff i don't want to keep i download and read, and then maybe keep the last chapter i read. I normally end up deleting them sometime because of space problems, than i forget the series, than a few months later i sort of start fishing which chapter i read last by try and error.
