Kouga-sensei's real [maiden] name is Risa Yamada, and she's married to fellow manga-ka, Tatsuneko, whose real-life last name seems to be "Kimura". Her drawing style is to draw the facial features before drawing the head itself in this order: Nose > Eyes > Mouth, or Eyes > Nose > Mouth, you get the idea. Yun Kouga states she usually makes a title first, then comes up with the story as she goes. Quoting:
"At the start. It (story?) is based on the title."

She wears glasses and loves to take strolls and her favorite manga anthologies are Shueisha's Shonen Jump and her publisher Ichijinsha's magazine COMIC ZERO-SUM, which is a womens' magazine which has stories that combine both shonen/seinen and shoujo/josei elements, but is ultimately categorized as a josei magazine.

Yun Kouga has stated that she was going to use the pen-name Jun Kouga, but ultimately changed the given name to Yun because she felt it was more original. She did the character designs for Studio Sunrise's anime series "Gundam 00" while CLAMP worked on the designs for Code Geass. Yun Kouga's career started out as a doujinshika under the circle name Kokonoe.

She's stated to be the "biggest influence on art and writing-style" of TAKANAGA Hinako - a famous BL mangaka especially for her work Koisuru Boukun.

A big few of Kouga's comics have been animated including Earthian, Loveless, Choujuu Densetsu Gestalt and Genji (KOUGA Yun).
