Off the top of my head,
Berserk, Deathnote, Kimi no Knife, Mirai Nikki.
I can't think of any more than those, and they all do take some time to get into, IMO.

When I read 'Sword or Guns' I instinctively thought Guts (Berserk) vs Alucard (Hellsing).
