Murceilago is an incredible manga. Not necessarily the greatest manga or the most well made one, but an incredible manga in its audacity and style.

With an almost surprisingly amoral cast of psychos and worse it bounces through eccentric plots dealing with the action of and creation of the drug Cesare - a violent hallucinogen and somewhat mutative cocktail. Weaving through that incredible violence, explicit lesbian sex, and some genuinely heart warming moments (often used to enhance the extremity of the other two).
The plot has a way of creeping up on you and rarely are things ever dropped, only placed out of sight where you'll likely forget about them, before the author brings them back. Characters that you think are one offs are brought in for later purposes, plot points that you thought were one and done come back. Its a tightly written manga that doesn't make you think that it is as you go.

Most similar in idea to something like Black Lagoon or Hellsing, it does standout greatly from them and distinguishes itself in its total irreverence and sexually charged nature.

This is pretty good, in case you didn't know. Awesome, funny, oddly dark.

If you were at all wary about reading this, I guess your biggest concerns would be sex scenes and the main characters. Well, the series is quite funny and it KNOWS the main character is awful. Overall, I consider it fun and interesting. Wrote a full review on it going over why I think so.

It's hilarious, bloody, full of sex and violence, and just everything I want out of a good manga. I don't like most yuri manga which I find to be too shoujo-ai or just straight hentai, but this one is a good mix of plot and character that I was looking for though still would be rated M or R. I look forward to each new release with baited breath.

It's also a good change to find a strong female lead who's also a lesbian and a badass. In fact, most of the main characters are strong, ass-kicking women who I wish showed up in more action manga.

Something New... Something Good...

I've never found anything like this series. Aside from it being a dark comedy, with gore on one hand and light-hearted humor on the other, I'm surprised toward the fact that the protagonist is female, plus a lesbian and overpowered as well. Her sidekick is an innocent girl who's able to drive a sports-car, plus every now and then she gets to defy physics + make an occasionally silly face given the situation. Quite the interesting duo I have to say...

As a psychopathic killer employed by the government, it's nice to see the manga trying to be self-aware at times: Whenever Kuroko goes around doing her job (killing other psychopaths with a smile on her face), the government has to argue during the aftermath about whether she's too much of a loose-canon (for the constant destruction), or the asset they need for when things get really difficult.

To sum things up: The series so far has about 11 chapters out, and even before it's had that many, it still offers a lot of different elements to just have fun with it.
I'm fully aware that this series isn't quite for everyone, but compared to a lot of other series that don't have much to really offer, it seems kind of harsh to condemn it as something utterly stupid...

Utterly stupid

Showpony manga, nothing more.

It tries way too hard; it seems to think combining dark, sadistic themes with comedy equates to quality, when that couldn't be further from the truth.

The writing is completely devoid of wit & intelligence and all it really is, is a bunch of characters acting insane & it expects the audience to laugh.

Dark, and yet, interesting yuri manga.

This was an interesting turn to what the average Yuri manga is. There's comedy, like in other series, but the main character is not your typical protagonist that goes around saving the innocnet. She's a psychopath, serial killer that seems to care little for anyone or anything, except herself and cute girls. There's little, if any, signs of romance, but instead, the female protagonist only care about sleeping around with hot girls, and she's good at it. This isn't something for the weak of heart, there's blood, corpses, pretty much gore, not everywhere, but when there is, you can easily see it.

If you want a Yuri manga that is very unique on its own right, then this is the one for you.

For those in need of dark comedy

Characters sell the story. The main character, Kuroko, will attract readers who want an unconventional female lead. An eccentric pervert and psychotic serial killer, she brings comedic relief while reveling in the gore and explicit sex. Murcielago feels like a dark comedy. A light-hearted ambiance where you see people being mutilated and murdered...and yet, you'll smile throughout. Recommended to those who want something fun included in their edge.
