I loved this manga. It has a good balance of romance and sorrow with a good amount of action in it to keep cynics like me still enjoying every volume with well timed comic releif to prevent things getting too angst. While the love is exagerrated, as it is in all good love stories, I still found myself hooked by the plot line, which adapts so much you can't get tired of it. The plot is deep and there are a good number of characters to ensure every finds something of interest without things becoming too cluttered or confusing. A draw back is the weakness of the main character, she often cries which irritated me but suited her role as a victim. Other than that a very good manga even if, like me, romance isn't your genre of choice normally.

I personally loved this story, it had value that I had not found for a long time. Through out most the manga I was really shocked and relieved. I had lost interest in a couple of sections but struggled to read on. In the end it left me in tears, and joy. When I look back at this manga I will always probably remember not to take life for granted.

This would've been so much better if I had read it when I was younger. T_T The same goes for Fushigi Yuugi too. But the me right now....it doesn't appeal to me that much =(

I had seen the anime first so because of that i was not much surprised with how things would turn out. In fact i thought this to be a great read and it was a pretty well made anime because it followed the manga very closely.....That being said though i really wanted, not for the ending to be different because i thought it fit well with the manga, but for something more at the end that would let us know exactly what happened after her leading man disappeared.

I read this series and loved it.I have to say it is one of my favorites. It made me cry so much.I also liked how the love triangle was turning every few seconds.I was surprised to see so much killing in this book.Sure I've read other books by her it's just a little different.I also liked the humor she added in.It really is a Horror Comedy Romance made in Heaven!

As a huge fan of Yuu Watase, I typically enjoy all of her manga, but I have to say that Ayashi no Ceres is definitely my favorite. The plot and characters are engaging and very well thought out. The story, although 14 volumes long, never felt repetitive or dragged out, because Watase was very good at introducing new story arcs that enhanced the overall development of her characters and progression of the story. With regards to the mature themes present in Ayashi no Ceres (such as the sex, violence, and deaths) they were not done senselessly, but instead were done purposely in congruence to developing the storyline and it's cohesiveness. The ending is absolutely beautiful with the way that it ties together everything from the beginning leading up to the end with perfect sense. Ayashi no Ceres is a tragic tale with underlying themes regarding humanity, love, and hope, depicted through its dramatic vices - a true manga masterpiece.

i couldn't ask for more. ayashi no ceres is my all time favourite manga written by my favourite mangaka, Yuu Watase. I really enjoy anc the moment i watched it's anime version then decided to read the manga version after that. it has a well-started plotline as well as the character development. although people might see this as a verry dramatic anime with very weak main character, i don't see any flaws in it.. it might be because i am blinded by the fact that THIS IS MY FAVOURITE MANGA and no matter how many times i read the 14 volumes, i wont find it very tiresome..LOL. recommended if you are a fan of yuu watase, like to see dramas and supernatural powers and beliefs.

As Chiira said, this series does exaggerate its sadness and violence. However, the storyline is interesting and doesn't have filler and the romance is angsty and painful, like any 'good' romance series. The main female character can be weak-willed and annoying at times, which is one of this series' flaws. It's definitely not a shoujo series for little girls. Anyone who likes this series may also like Ao no Fuuin.

Not bad at all, but I think Fushigi Yuugi was better. A little exagerated in some aspects (violence and sadness), but I enjoined reading these manga series.
After all, Yuu Watase is Yuu Watase. ^_^
