I really loved the intrigue in this one. The precariousness of Kaoru believing that Akira was Mamoru and Akira being unsure how to feel about it all, it made for a good mildly suspenseful read. To be honest, I felt like the romance was thrust into the story rather quickly and without any delicacy. I wanted to hear more about Akira and Kaoru's traumas first before everything got resolved. It would have made for a great psychological manga.

Good buildup of tension, great art.

Two things I want to praise this manga for are the art and the way tension builds. The first is expected; Enzou's stories have always had great, distinct art. The second is well done until it's Kaoru's turn to respond to Akira. Things get solved fairly neatly and quickly, but by that point I was already invested in the characters and liked them, so the outcome was acceptable. I also enjoyed how Enzou gave us peeks at both Kaoru and Akira's pasts, brief as they were; in the end, it's better that more time was devoted to Kaoru and Akira together, because those peeks are enough for you to get an idea of how bad they had it.

While not a realistic exploration of trauma, I do enjoy Enzou's storytelling and art, and appreciate the fact that there was no "Akira was actually Kaoru's brother all along, and he was the one that snapped" twist.
