Description
From Yen Press:
Wending his way home after a bender one evening, master moocher and game programmer Keita Ibuki decides to satisfy a craving for ramen at a noodle stand. Instead of slurping soup, though, he surrenders his meal to a manic girl who, unbeknownst to Keita, is a Mototsumitama, a guardian of the coexistence equilibrium. When his new acquaintance is attacked, Keita gets caught in the crossfire and loses an arm. Awakening from the shock of his injury, Keita finds himself back in his apartment, arm intact! But just whose arm is it?

I love the story line and the other characters, but the main character is such a idiot, there has been times when I have thought of not reading this because they main character can't see though blatant traps and nearly ruins everything. But the storyline is awesome.

Ok, from the post below me and some others talk about this manga not being realistic, but something everyone should understand that this is a fantasy manhwa, there are barely realistic things that happen in fantasy mangas or manhwa, you don't see realistic stuff and you don't see the same in the fights. If you want to read something realistic go read something without fantasy or supernatural.

The action is awesome, some of the people who post here saying that the fights are boring and such are not reading the same manga i am reading, it great fun, the polt can use a little ironing out but all in all its good. Also the art is great, and possiblely you will find yourself going through evrey chapter quickly because you'll get sucked in from the begin. So i give full recommendation.

This manga has a solid plot, but the unrealistic characters and fights drag it down. The main girl is trying to kill someone, but she's just wandering around aimlessly and looking for new food to try. It's like she doesn't care that her entire tribe was murdered.

Her attitude would be fine if she was strong, but she's terribly weak. She has tons of defeats and near defeats but doesn't train at all. Does she not want to win?

The fights are also unrealistic and resolved in the cliche manner: stronger opponents are defeated when the weaker one gets a new power. The weaker one never wins through some clever and impressive use of his existing power.

Even ignoring the unrealistic fights, it's impossible for me to take the story seriously when all of the characters don't seem to care about it. There's nothing good that sets this manga apart from others of its type.

Great art and action. Interesting story and characters although they could feel cliched at times. After 1~2 volumes, it gets pretty addicting. I'm glad the author dropped "defense, offense, speed" lameness almost right away. This manga is a fun read.

This somewhat has a different feel to it then most action/supernatural manga/manwha. Unlike most manga where you have a main character that is likable and then enters into a contract with some insanely powerful spirit/entity here it is quite the opposite. The lead character is hard to like and the mototsumitama that he enters a contract with is hardly superpowerful. In fact in most of the fights Kuro gets bloodied pretty easily.. other then that the release rate is damn sloww.

This manga is similar to some others in terms of over all theme but the characters and storyline deviates a bit from the normal. It is interesting to watch, and one would wish there would be more chapters to read.

It's not my type of manga but it has an interesting enough plotline.

It's not the most original with some cliched bits (like the childhood friend being so in love with him and stuff like that) but the characters themselves are pretty interesting in their own way.

The art is REALLY good. Very dark. And the characters look sort of realistic in the fact that they are fleshy.

And um, it a manhwa in a Japanese manga magazine it seems...?

Mixed votes made me think this'd be the usual shallow shounen, Instead, it has a deep plotline with unique characters and incredible art. I won't say it's a revolutionary work, but it has quite a few appealing aspects.

The art is excellent and in many ways a unique style. Like how the artist uses the characters' mouths in very expressive ways. The female lead, Kuro, reminds me a bit of Kiyohiko Azuma's art (she's kinda an Osaka in Azumanga Daioh , but way more energetic and "kawaii!"). At first you may think she's part of the "supernatural occurrence causes cute girl with odd yet endearing personality to live with guy" cliche like you see in Lilim Kiss or Sekirei, but that's not the case. Her reactions & behavior are not shallow at all, they really speak of her character; she's very far a typical shounen archetype.

[edit by mod, Please refrain from using foul language]
Unlike manga where you often see people reacting in ways no sane person would usually react, Black God is totally realistic. philip72 describes the main character (Keita) as an *******. Actually, he's just a realistic character. Same with Akane, she has plenty of has flaws.

Keita's not a bad guy, just immature and full of youthful vigor. He would never hurt anyone, and is actually a very sensitive guy and a good person, which you can see when you look at how much he cared for his mother (she died in an accident when he was a child, as we learn in the first few pages of the series). As you read the story you come to understand the characters for who they are.

In spite of all these high points, however, the type of story we have here is one I've become too used to and don't like that much, where the true plots are shrouded in secrecy, with conspiracies all around, and you're kept in the dark about a lot of the plot, instead just slowly learning more about the Mototsumitama mythology, as the main characters are constantly being forced into action by things beyond their understanding. Therefore, 9/10.
