This should've just been named "Fushigi Yuugi Redux" or something, because that's essentially what it is; it's a watered-down version of Fushigi Yuugi with fewer bishies, ultra typical shoujo art that can at best be called decent, and instead of friends playing opposing mikos, this time it's a pair of twin sisters. Yume discovers she's a miko and is supported by the Seiryuu/Byakko/Genbu of the upper world and the Suzaku of the underworld on her quest to restore order to both worlds by finding the runaway unicorn. Yes, I'm serious.
Aside from being an essential rehash of familiar stories, all the "character development" (if you can call it that) and relationship-building takes place within the first 4 chapters or so, at a breakneck speed. If you think you can at least get a cute, well-developed romance from this, you'll be disappointed.
What makes this even more tiresome is the fact the whole main conflict happens precisely because one member of the love square didn't take rejection well and went off the deep end. I kept praying that someone would just slap a bit of sense into the crazy party, but then I suppose we wouldn't have a manga that stretched over 3 volumes.
This manga is bland, pedestrian, banal, insipid, hackneyed... you get the idea. The only reason why I scored it higher than a 3-4 is because of the decent art and the reasonable ending. Don't bother wasting your time reading this.

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Rekka (the underworld Suzaku) gets to know Yume in the first 2 chapters when she discovers her powers, and by chapter 4 we're already getting raging jealousy from all members of the love square, forced kisses and so on. By the end of the first volume, they're already deeply in love and ready to die for each other. I mean... wha?

There was not much difference in the size of the adults and the teens. It hopped around in some places and did not really allow for the characters to develope personalities.

It gets too confusing... When switching scenes and the girl is too wishy washy about love. Also, it does borrow a lot from other mangas. Probably a little too much.

I love alternate world manga and I liked how the series started out...there are some beautiful drawings of main character Yume -but the story ultimately went the route of annoying halfway through when Yume makes some strange decisions. Too much of it I saw coming; she finds the perfect guy, yet is attracted to an obnoxious guy assigned to protect her, goes back and forth between the two, chooses the wrong one, etc. After some of the things that happened, the end wraps up way too quickly and happily ever after for it to make any sense and much of the conclusion isn't explained probably for that very reason. Borrows heavily from fushigi yuugi, himiko den, ayashi no ceres, and haruka 7.

Too many unrealistic things happened. The plot seems so mucked up that needs a good pounding to. I did enjoy this manga, but this manga is the type where i slim through the 3 volumes. The art is so-so, not bad but not as good as the many other managaka around.
All in all:
Art: 6.5
Plot: 6.5
Characters: 5.5 (Too stereotyping, it's like the characters only have a main personality (for example the energenic one, the poor sol one, the hero, etc.)
Lenght: 3 volumes for a fantasy manga like this is too short. Need more time to fully express the characters.
Enjoyment: 6.5. Good enough to slim through.
Overall: 6.25

I love the art. The story I think might be going a bit too fast. Everyone who liked mermaid melody should try this manga out!
