Description
Akira Shiraishi, a young high-school boy with feminine features, joins Blaue Rosen, the all-girl band that Mizuki Sakurazaka, an androgynous girl of the same age, performs lead electric guitar in.

Their high-school life is anything but typical: Mizuki is the "prince" of her all-girl school while Akira is the "princess" of the neighboring all-boy school. A series of comical events brings them closer together, even as the prejudice of the people around them tries to hold them back.

Genderbender = +1

At the beginning, I was very pleased at how Shinjo Mayu clearly set the gender roles -- Mizuki was a prince of her all-girls' school, and Akira was the princess of his all-boy's school. I especially loved Mizuki's tough-guy attitude, not to mention her supersexy fashion sense.

Then Akira comes along and smuts her into submission. Suddenly she starts blushing all the time and wants to wear frilly dresses and likes unicorns and crap. Akira's evilness makes the devolution of Mizuki's personality nearly bearable, though, because he's just so -cute- and manipulative. He's what I want a shoujo heroine to be. And since he's supposed to look like a girl, that's what I can pretend. >_>;;

when i first started reading this manga, i was so incredibly confused. i thought the boy was a girl and the girl was a boy. it was such a mess. i had to force myself to get into it and once i did, it's not not a bad manga. i guess you just have to give it a chance. Mizuki is really annoying though, and that doesn't change much at all.

Don't get me wrong, this is a pretty original series. But its just, sssoooo weird. The GIRL looks like a freakin dude, and the BOY looks like a girl. If it were an anime or something I couldn't even imagine how much their voices won't fit their bodies >.<. Its okay I guess, but i'll need to work up some courage before I try to read it again (I was twitching the whole time i was reading!) (creepy I tell you! creepy!)

Not to bad...

Not being a huge fan of Shinjo Mayu, I nevertheless decided to give this a try because because it sounded like a more original story than her previous ones (the only one I really liked was 'Kaikan phrase'). Overall, I liked it, the art as usual is easy on the eyes and pleasant to look at. The plot, despite being a little cliche, wasn't to bad and did hold my attention (sadly, I do tend to be a sucker for drama. hehe). It also did have it's funny moments that made me laugh.

Unfortunately, I have to admit I find the two main leads a little disappointing. Akira and Mizuki seem to be a little original at first, after all it's not often the Mayu deviates from her usual character types. Akira is a very girly looking guy, while Mizuki is a very manly looking girl. However, apart from that, I found their personalities were kinda boring. Akira's dominating, wolfish and seductive personality follows in the exact same footsteps as Mayus other guy characters. Mizuki is the exactly the same, granted she does have her original moments, but Mayu also displays her as insecure, cry-babyish and a bit of a pushover when it comes to Akira. In other words, Mizuki is pretty much the same as other girl characters in Mayus stories. hmm... I'm not saying they have to act according to the gender they LOOK like, but a little more originality in their underlying personalities would have been nice.

hmmm... like I said, this is a decent story. Any fan of Mayu's works will definately like this. The art is nice, the plot is decent and the characters... well, are ok if not entirely likable on my part (they do, despite my little rant before, have some originality compared to some of her other characters biggrin ). Overall, it's a pretty good read...

Gender bender smut = shounen ai. Anyone who's into the gay stuff would probably like this. Especially since there's people of the same sex who are in love with the two main characters. For me, it's kind of a turnoff how the girl has the body of a man (with a bra on). They could've made her at least a slender guy, not broad-shouldered. But it's not as confusing as others claim. Aside from looks, which I've gotten used to, it's a romantic story that should be given a try.
EDIT: And she does look girlier later on, looking less manly and more beautiful bishie type. They even make her skinnier with a girl's body. Just push past the first few chapters art and you'll notice the changes. I'm really enjoying it now!

I am already a big fan of Shinjo-sensei and have always loved her perverted strong males and cute girls, but i simply adore this swicth on princess vs prince. seeing the girl-that-looks-like-a-guy swooning in an utter girl like fashion is simply adorable. so is seeing an adorably cute guy going dominant s&m. love the switcheroo. two thumbs up

I was interested it in it because the main guy looked cute and see how the leads' romance would develop. But so far, it seems rather... ehhhh. Love Celeb is better.
