I must say I think I have a new favorite. The story is lovely and well developed the art is simple yet really beautiful, and the characters are awesome. I cannot stress this part enough. This manga has some simply Amazing characters! I absolutely adore Sawako. She's certainly not even close to your typical shoujo heroine. She's shy but not weak and she's naiive but not stupid. When a situation happens and you expect her to react the way a typical shoujo heroine would to such a scenario, she goes on and does what you would actually want her to do! This girl is full of surprises and is absolutely adorable. And I also just love Kazehaya. He's a kind and smart boy who doesn't get swayed by what other people say without finding out the truth behind things. He's totally adorable and absolutely cute! This story is full of really well done, loveable characters. All in all this series has excellent characters, very good plot, is well developed and has a good pace. I read the reviews and saw many comments about how the pace was slow but I have to disagree. I think a great part of the charm of this story is how things develop slowly, not rushed. The characters really are making progress and seeing how their relationship is developing is a great part of the fun.
I totally recommend this manga!

Love, love, love this manga. That said, while I loved the slow progression of the characters and the gradual build up of their relationships I'm finding at this point the romance dragging soooo much. The two main characters are getting a little frustrating because of everything dragging on to such an extent. The other characters too are awesome, and the story as a whole is amazing.

Although everyone accuses it to be slow, I really like the progress (or lack of) that it makes. Every shoujo manga has some slow progress with some girl that cries a lot and is too scared to talk to the guy, yet they move on very quickly. This manga is realistic, some people are just like this (take me for instance). There really are some people out there that are too scared, work hard, aren't good friends with others, but those stories aren't told enough, the right way.
Also, the side characters are amazing, their stories contrast with the leading ones, thus this whole series ends up with different ideas instead of one long one.
In a way, yes, this is your typical shoujo manga, but it's also so much more. You'll never find something as realistic as this. (:

This manga has some great things and some really annoying things about it. I loathe people like the hero and heroine who constantly foster misunderstanding because they either won't speak up, or speak unclearly when they do. I loathe romances driven by these Big Misunderstandings. Yes, they're only 15-16, but I don't care - I don't want to read their constant waffling and self-doubt. I like romances that take time, but not if the length is driven by shyness taken to absurd levels.
But, I completely love the side characters in this story, who have tons more depth and real feeling to them, who are fascinating, and one of whom is part of one of the most touching romances I've seen. I adore every frame they're in, lingering over them, while I skim past Sawako's ridiculous constant inner monologue.
I will search for other works by this mangaka. She obviously tells stories well. I just need to find stories where her main characters don't stand around and cry so much.

I would recommend this manga and anime to anyone. Even though the slow progress (or lack of progress) between the female and male lead, I really can't get annoyed with the plot. There's so many mangas where the relationships between the main characters progress far too quickly, but I believe that kimi ni todoke seems more believable or at least more innocent in comparison to a lot of other mangas. I also like how I don't really hate anyone in the manga or find them overly annoying or sinister. Though there are characters that get in between the main characters relationship, they have their reasons for their mean behavior and they end up knowing when to back off.

You know...I loved this manga at the start...but it keeps on dragging on now with no progress. People are nice to her...she blushes like crazy...the guy that likes her (and vice versa) doesn't have the balls to do anything. Urg....
Love the art but man...could they drag it on any longerrrr ? 0_o

This series is one of those series that can take you on a rollercoaster ride of feelings. Happy times light a smile to my face, frustrating times makes me slam the keyboard. I really admire titles that can affect you emotionally.
The art I love <3 At least everyone looks different, compared to some shoujo where every character looks the same, except for the change in hair >__> Most characters have cliche personalities, but for some reason, I like the clicheness. Complainers of 2D personalities... I can't see why we can't have characters that are just sweet and nothing else. Do we really have to include the "sad and hurtful past" to make it more realistic? (People complain that's an overdone cliche, too. Readers are never happy.)
For once, I don't mind the slow pace (though frustrations kicks in sometimes). From starting it way back from when the first chapter came out, to now, the 10th volume-
Whether they are dense or slow, I find the relationship between Kuronuma and Kazeheya undeniabily sweet. The over reactions they have, I don't mind at all. Just reveals how much they really like each other. One thing I really like is that both of them get worked up, and not just one of them! (Makes a change from the usual).
All in all, I've found my favourite fluffy shoujo romance.
- An insert for the Viz release: volume one contains stickers! xD So cute, though no point, 'cause I'll never use them. Editing wasn't bad though a bubble at the end of v3 erked me. I was put off that they used the same font for both thoughts and dialogue (don't particularly like the font either). Covers were a little flimsy, paper quality wasn't bad, and rarely found pages with washed out black.

I can actually say I had tears when Kuronuma confessed (and so many times at that!).

The relationships between characters tug at the heartstrings!!! If you read slowly and thoroughly, you'll get the reasons behind the reasons why the love story between the male and female protagonists is developing at the pace it is now. I've never seen another shojo that tells a beautiful tale without really "feeding" the words and emotions to the reader. You just feel them yourself. I recommend this to anyone who wants to feel warm, fuzzy and romantic at the same time.
Awesome piece! Kudos to everyone who "gets" it and appreciates the tale for what it really is.
