The action was good. The comedy was funny. The romance was nice. Most of the characters were really good. Even though ones you are supposed to hate were enjoyable. I have a few nitpicks...
...but overall it was a fun read.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
One of the biggest ones was how Ichigo's thing with Nana played out. I wish it had been done better. I mean he fell for Chiyoko, but it was pretty clear Ichigo and Nana still had feelings for each other. Though after she leaves you don't see her again.
There's a random time skip of 8 months in the middle of volume 6. It was kinda out of nowhere and the chapter before really didn't set it up. I mean it was doing random skips of days throughout the manga, but that's not jarring. When it randomly jumps 8 months it is. If it was done at the start of a new volume, it would have made more sense.
Ichigo never finds out that Shiina gets killed.

Although this is supposed to have romance, this is more of a comedy gag romance. Lots of comedy, old fashioned mafia and romance that builds oh so slightly.
It was a fun sort of read but I'm not big on gag manga unless it's done well like One Piece or Fairy Tail.

Has flaws but simply funny, enjoyable, thrilling

This series has a serious tone about parental abandonment and orphans. It's mature but it isn't grim or that depressing. This isn't a series where you'll be left depress but rather you'll be having fun reading it.
The positives:
1. The art style fits the seinen atmosphere quite nicely.
2. Every character is designed uniquely. You won't mistaken one character for another because each character has distinct facial features.
3. The main cast are all very likeable and sweet.
4. The platonic love between the female-to-male, and male-to-male are well developed and expressed. This is a Yakuza setting so there's a lot of emphasis on platonic love (trust and bonding).
5. When the romance started to roll, it tasted like sweet cake without cliche. This isn't shoujo so their personalities toward their relationship are mature. They don't have silly misunderstandings or insecurities but face the issues up front. There aren't any blushing, running away or bull shit stuff like those cliche shoujos.
6. There are a lot of funny moments that aren't cheesy.
7. The thrill reading the fights are detailed, realistic and amazing with no over the top bs.
The flaws:
1. The introduction of romance was too abrupt; it honestly came out of nowhere. Despite that, the relationship between the two develops nicely.
2. The overarching story is brushed aside during the middle of the series; it went on a tangent.
3. The motive behind the Yakuza fights feel forced just for the sake of having fights for the male lead. However the fights are entertaining nonetheless.
Thoughts about the age gap relationship:
There's a 12 years age gap for the two main leads. However, it isn't addressed in this series which I applaud nicely. It gives off a feeling that the real bond between the two aren't shackled by silly worries of age difference. The female is 16 years old but the romance doesn't fully develop until she's near 17 years old, nearing adulthood. She's old enough to choose who she likes and be with when she passes adulthood.
Side note: The first two volumes are devoid of romantic development with the main focus on platonic relationships. This is important for the ex-mafia setting. It's somewhat boring for the first volume but it sets a good foundation for the other volumes. The series shines greatly during the middle and end of the series.

Genuinely one of the better mangas I've read in recent weeks. I really was happy with everything about it including the characters/plot/ending... except for the transitions of between chapters or volumes. Sometimes it got a bit confusing, but honestly, it was just so good i didnt care.
Underrated. Don't listen to the haters

This is one heck of a manga. The first few volumes provide the perfect build up. They are funky, odd, humorous and make you laugh like crazy. The premise itself is ridiculous. How do yakuza and pastries mix up together exactly? But, the mangaka plays it really well and gives you an awesome story.

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Starting with 5/10.
Poor development. Author has no plan for the whole story. It's more like a collection of short stories. Every ark has it's own characters that disappear after ark ends. (-1)
Poor romance. Age gap 12 years! Chiyoko is only 16! But it doesn't bother anybody. Not just lovers, but everybody around take it like normal. Ichigo behaves like a child, especially first kiss scene. (-1)
Goody-goody plot more suitable for shounen. "Don't kill, love people around you, etc". Who needs this? (-1)
Poor ending. Happy end is boring as it is (predictable from the first chapter). But two "twists" at the end make it sickly sweet. Author has no guts to send Chiyoko away or kill Ichigo. (-1)
Great art! This was the thing that kept me reading. I'd like to see hentai with such art. :D (+2)

It's an awesome series. The first one or two have only a few good scenes, but it sticks to you. By the time the shiina arc rolls around, it becomes awesome. Art is good, funky comedy, and likeable characters, except for the girl, until later on. Check it out.

Very enjoyable slice of manga, with the added flair of a good sense of humor.
Defined, playful artwork. Girls are drawn cute (when they're intended to be), without excess of fanservice. Just a sympathetic manga, which is hard to come by these days.

This manga id really good. if you can get over a few hurdles. First off, the heroine is a bitch. Second, the main desired couple is 12 years difference in age. Third, somehow it doesnt bring that yakuza feel in this manga. Everything else is really good.
oddly good

i dont know what it is about this manga, but i like it. whether it be from the clean and fresh art style, the funky humor, the absurd situations [gangstahs and pastries?] to the pretty decent storyline and character development, i think this manga is something to watch out for when the scanlationgroups pick up speed [we're not that far into the storyline right now]
this is one of those mangas i just picked up, and was hooked on by page 3
