As the manga moves into the Vongola Rings Arc, things got alot more interesting!

For those who stopped because you find the Daily Life Arc boring, I would say you should read the Vongola Rings Arc biggrin

And I completely agree with 2H saying not to rate the manga if you hadnt read the Vongola Rings Arc yet bigrazz

Don't rate this serie if you haven't gotten to the vongola arc

While the daily is arc is pretty medicore it's still a pretty good comedy those people who give this a 5 are way to harsh. The Vongola ring arc seriously looks cool. The main char also get's a boost in "coolness."

Slick art, slick action, slick suits

this is a very nice review that pretty much sums up why oh why this 2-yr old series has been making it to the top 5 (2nd to One Piece) rankings of Shounen Jump over the past few months...

THAT Anime Blog v2.0's take on Katekyo Hitman REBORN!

The daily life arcs are the ones that tend to make most people turned off because they are mostly about character introductions, "slice of life" hijinks, and assorted comedic scenarios. There was no actual plot development about Tsuna becoming the 10th generation boss or any sort of proper fighting and ability training, and so I guess most people just got bored by that. Personally I liked the daily life arcs because they are really quite funny, especially Lambo and his nonsense.

REBORN's popularity rose when the Vongola Rings story arc started because that is where all the cool fighting gets even better from the fighting in the [kokuyo] arc. The fighting in REBORN! is quite reminiscent to that of Black Cat and GetBackers, as in a mix of natural abilities and weapon gimmicks.

as for me, i'm crazy about this series right now. first, this series called my attention because of the boys LOL. next was the idea about mafias. when i looked it up here, there was this huge baby with big eyes staring right back at me. i thought i made a mistake somewhere!

anyway i thought the baby concept was too sketchy in the beginning but i decided to give it some more chapters. i actually got used to them, then the series started getting cooler. characters that are so rich and colorful in personality. insane wackiness. plus the whole family/loyaly code was getting to me too since i have a weakness for that. plus the suits... the suits, man, the suits!

and lucky for me, the series kept getting cooler and cooler. ;)

*i also have to highly commend the art. it's just pretty darn impressive and slick. and to think a woman drew all this!?

I've tried numeral times to get into this; but it's just not clicking for me.
The daily life arc as it's being called is just incredibly boring and I'm surprised it survived for 60+- chapters without getting cancelled. Especially when you know how ruthless Jump is.
Then I tried reading the first "real" arc after that and I came to the conclusion I'll probably never like it.
A horrible main character in the form of Tsuna; who complains, whines and shouts over every stupid little thing. The comedy is very flawed; it's basically something for the fangirls. I'm even somewhat forced to read through them, because I typeset them, but even by being forced to read/like it; it's having the opposite effect on me.

Ps. I've read the Vongola Rings Arc

Liked it more when it was just comedy than the generic shounen "one goodguy character fights one specific badguy for 5 chapters then moves on to the next goodguy character fighting another specific badguy" thing, but it's still great.

Like an earlier review said, this manga is complete CRACK. But it's fun, full of great characters, and the art is pretty good as well. Later on (around volume 5), it does get somewhat of plot (in story arcs) where the gang fights various other groups of mafia/assassins. The action just kicks ass.

It is very unfair to rate this manga a 1 just to bring the rating down. And I seriously doubt it deserves a 1 if it's popular enough to have been running in Weekly Jump for such a long time.

[edit by mod: Warning, may contain spoilers]

First, I will say do not trust that idiot troll. However, that should be self-explanatory. Second, I will say that I'm not going to repeat the generals of the story, as the first review did a very good job of that. I'm simply going to explain my opinion of this series.

I was drawn into this manga by its interesting premise, as I'm sure just about everyone else was, and soon fell in love with this series. As I read further, I was delighted by its nonsensical humor, however, I was slightly (only slightly) disappointed by its apparent episodic nature. It seemed to be setting the stage for something great, and I read every chapter thinking "is there going to be a story arc now?"

Yes there is. Although it does take a while to get going, Reborn gets even crazier than you thought imaginable from reading the introduction stuff. Surprisingly, the "real" fighting that appears is extremely well done; something I was not initially expecting, as I was reading mainly for the humor and satisfaction of seeing a Mafia hitman infant shooting people. Even as the story gets darker, it still retains its element of humor, that blends in perfectly.

The characters are also a joy to behold, each brimming with their own quirks and originality. Bright, cheerful, and deranged, they are truly standouts.

I would recommend this series to anyone looking for a good laugh, engaging action sequences, and a premise that hasn't been touched on before. This series is easily one of the best serialized in Jump, and it is well worth reading through the long episodic-yet-entertaining initial exposition.
