UGLY CRYING

it's cheesy, but I can't help but admire how lovely this manga is in its portrayal of a couple from start to finish.

Sweet and simple, don't expect too much depth. I absolutely love the way the characters are characterized in the beginning of the manga. I wish they continued this trend through the entire manga, but I understand the limitations it had. Some of the drama had to be simplified, so it looks really silly and shallow. It also got resolved very quickly. This manga is an entirely uncomplicated and idealistic look at how people grow and how true love endures. Of course, the ending made me cry, especially in how it ended how the manga started. Lovely stuff.

Good, not great

I saw that Life Senjou no bokura is getting jdrama this year and, after reading coments here, I guess I was expecting some incredible, believable and hard-hitting manga about two men in love. What I got was... honestly not bad but not great either.
For me, the sex scenes were kind of unnecessary. Aside from one, they were there just because. But that can be up to personal preference.
Overall, I would say I enjoyed the story up to the second chapter, after that the emotions were lacking.
So as long as you don't go into reading this with thinking it's some life changing experience, I guess you'll enjoy it.

There are many cliches to point out. The relationship was pretty off but very heart-warming. I kinda relate to Nishi as I always have imaginations and was naive even in my teens. Okay for Ito, he at first thought of being rejected by Nishi in their late teens. But in their late twenties, it’s his turn to be the one rejecting him bc of his amateur behavior. Like make up your mind! At one part where he noticed the kid, could that be his child from his ex wife?
I never read a story involving older couple in same sex relationship before. It’s un normal but heartbreaking at a same time of what happened. It’s a bit like the end Titanic where it end tragically but they once again live happily ever after.

Gonna keep this comment nice and sweet so y'all can just head on over and read this immediately.

Read it because it ain't cliche. It's beautiful, sweet and so stupidly heartbreaking you'll call yourself stupid in a happy way for crying so much in the end.

Trust me. You'll thank the world for keeping you alive just reading this one.

^^ as the tin says. also as many comments below say lol.

i will add that as much as i loved it, i'll be honest: if you're looking for a manga that'll give you twists and turns and ultimate drama and nasty sex, this is not the manga for you. the story is as cliche as they come.

that being said!!

i have never been so emotionally exhausted from a singe-volume manga before. it usually takes a couple books before i'm this invested and halfway through chapter 1 sensei already had me hook, line, and sinker. as many others say below: i laughed, i cried, i was absolutely in love. as predictable as i found it, there was also something so real about the akira and yuuki—their actions, their feelings, their love for each other. it's such a gift to see them growing and loving together, making mistakes and pulling through.

idk man sensei just got me Fucked Up honestly /o\

final thoughts: this absolutely deserved to win chil-chil's 2018 bl comic of the year. if you get the chance, read it while listening to the drama cd for Maximum Impact™

(as a side note: the drama cd also includes bonus content ft. akira/yuuki together. i don't speak japanese so i'd give my firstborn for someone to transcribe the tracks for me lmao)

Oh, wow. I've just been through a roller coaster of emotions, I felt like I was in a really good BDSM play complete with aftercare. The use of the imagery of the "white line game" from start to end was so damn powerful, I don't think I'm going to be forgetting it any time soon.

Really, stop reading through the reviews and go and grab your favorite pillow and a few tissues and head for your reading nook.

I hope an English publisher picks this title up. I'd definitely want this on my shelf.

The story is told in such a sweet way, using effectively the lifetime to depict a not only romantic but also realistic relationship. Many mangakas tend to overly romanticize their stories, but this one is totally making the characters real, through many periods of their life. After reading this, there’s this bittersweet feeling lingering inside my heart, which makes me so grateful for being able to read the manga.
Of course I cried, because of how beautifully sensei expressed those sad feelings through the characters’ facial expressions. But also, I even cried more because of happiness ?.
