I like Tomoyo and Madoka's relationship. It's just beautiful for me (I'm not bothered by the age gap at all, it isn't that big to begin with) I rly hope they don't break up or anything coz there are so many things going on in the series and it's kind of hard to keep up. Sometimes I stop and think "What is going on??" But I honestly don't mind where the series is heading just as long as Madoka doesn't end up with Ono.

I like the art. Somehow, manga with similar art like Bitou Lollipop always seemed to have a good story plot.

I really liked the art and the fact that this wasn't the typical Shoujo with a really naïve and weak heroine etc... However I didn't like how the plot evolved in the lasts volumes



So much potential but it could have been a lot better in the end.

Iketani sensei's drawings are much more attractive than in Six Half. As usual, she pulls off a suspenseful plot that pulls you in with it's mysterious, yet believable characters. She writes suspense very well, so be sure to have time on your hands before reading it. The story does deal with some mature themes, though, so if you're looking for a fluffy shoujo, search elsewhere. Great story so far, anyways! I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a realistic and thoughtful manga.

The heroine is down-to-earth, open, intelligent, and confident in herself without being conceited. She's really very likable...but I really haven't grown to like any of the other characters. In fact, as time goes by, I seem to like them less and less. They are all very selfish (especially her parents) and none of them think of how their actions affect her or anyone else. The art is good, and the plot is interesting, but I really hope to see some good in some of the characters in furture chapters.

This is a shoujo that stands out from the crowd. There are underlying elements of low-key mystery and unrequited desires that gives this romcom an edge. This manga is reasonably well-drawn from the start, and it's extremely funny.

Because the heroine isn't a cold pillar of self-reliant ice and nonexistent tear ducts, I wouldn't call her strong. She is codependent on her relationships to an extent, but she isn't an overemotional puddle of tears and inferiority complexes either. The two male leads also have their own dreams and problems to deal with and don't dedicate every waking moment to thinking about the heroine. Interactions between characters seem to be more complex than the average shoujo.

A gem.

I came upon this by luck and decided to read it because of the beautiful cover (of Madoka and Tomoyo). I hesitated at first because the artwork wasn't very good (I'm very picky on the art), but I kept reading because I was so hooked into the story. It's really unique and funny. And the art is actually pretty beautiful. Totally worth your time! I usually dislike it when the female is older than the guy, but this is an exception ^^. The heroine is really strong (not in the way you would think so) and admirable... and not the type of girl who fusses about their looks or not having a boyfriend. If you're looking for something refreshing, new, funny, and cute, read this!!

It's a must read. Honestly, I was a bit hesitating before reading this manga because of the artwork but later then, I decided to read it and I don't regret it! The artwork becomes more and more beautiful once you get used to it. Furthermore, the storyline is different, but surprisingly good. <3

For the people trying to classify the heroine Madoka as "masculine" or "feminine"... I'd say, more like, she's just a real person? She's strong, but she's not an island. She has her weaknesses and strengths. Honestly I don't like characters who are relentlessly optimistic and sparkly about every frickin damn thing in life, and I don't like characters who are helpless wilting flowers that need constant rescuing from their rich, smart, hot, d-bag boyfriends. Madoka's not either, thank goodness.

One thing I noticed about this mangaka is that she starts with a cliched premise and then develops the story into something much more meaningful and alluring. Like this manga starts with the overused premise of the parents selfishly abandoning their child for whatever reason - but actually the parents are an integral (and really fun) part of the story, so the plotline is not as typical as you think it is.

I've been reading shoujo for years now and lately it's gotten to the point where I think 85% of it is just pure recycled garbage. Bitou (Bittersweet) Lollipop is a good read, definitely worth your time.

The lead character are always being bipassed by the other characters... Her opinion seems so unecessary but what makes it lovable is that even though everyone treats her like that she's still strong, i can say a very realistic character (compared to other mangas), the characters are 4D to (readers can relate) AND! the guy (who's younger than her) loves her despite all that AND respects her xD
.... I guess thats what makes this manga unique... The guy is just amazing and the heroine is not annoying (^_^)

A nice feature in which came across the course of the story for me (I’m 6 chapters in) is that even though potential love is looming in the air with its hidden depths, it is not similar to most typical shoujo. Love is not the end all be all, prominent label here. And I can honestly judge even none shoujo fans would be fond of this manga.
Modoka, the heroine of this story- is far from a weak and stupid girl like in most shoujo. She is not exaggeratedly strong and unbelievable either like in some shonen either, but she is- as you could say, in the middle. She is afraid of ghosts, and after becoming alienated and alone for the first time (living in a sub house alone) she is doing her best to overcome her fear, as well as live her life the best she can. That being said: her parents do come check on her every once and awhile, and show up whenever she needs them. So they do honestly care about her, and it’s not just a gimmick for her to be a typical shoujo girl when their gone.
The male characters are not 100% in love with Madoka at first sight. As well as they are not used as focus for plot division. They are -to put simply, natural. Moreover the two males we most see in the book have their own outside aspirations and are maturely thought out characters, and well as developed in a way in which they are not overly jerks, nor overly sweet-coated. So, therefore I would say to someone who is reading this review (if anyone is ha ha): It would be a shame for you to miss-out on this manga. There is a blend of mystery thru-out the story, and if you think this is a story about a girl trying to overcome only her hardships, you’re wrong. All the characters have their own story.
