I read it then i stopped after the first volume. Not a very great story, with very weird points here and there, and chuckles are rare. Also, didn't know that this was written by RK's author until very recently, so i gave it a 2nd chance and read another volume but couldn't bare reading it anymore. Not recommended if you have ANYTHING else to read.

Its not the greatest series I have read so far (I'm currently a bit over halfway done with the current releases, and hope a group takes up up the project again), but its definitely worth reading if you haven't found something amazing to satiate your appetite for manga.

I would typically give something like this a 8.5, but I have to give it an 8 for reasons that would constitute a spoiler warning.

Well i admit that i am biased, i like shounen with some romance development, so there is no way way i would miss this one. It isnt the most original manga serie, but its a decent one

The Buso Renkin is actually very nice, much better than many has said below. There's action, comedy, drama (later in the manga/anime); it's not boring at all, very entertaining and enjoyable. The character design is quite cool, e.g. Tokiko, Kazuki and Caption Bravo. Also there are some some nice references to other mangas/animes characters (read/watch carefully!). The themes in the manga/anime is quite good too: protecting the one you love, banishment and sacrifice.

What I also like in the manga/anime is the growing love of Tokiko towards Kazuki vice versa. The weapons and the "Kakugane" in the manga/anime are well designed. For those who like the manga, I can recommend the anime which is very close to manga, well at least if you want to enjoy the story via animation/video/audio once again. The voice acting in the Japanese version is great.

As for the less good thing in the manga, well halfway, the manga it's not about hunting down homunculuses anymore (which is not a bad thing really), but about Kazuki becoming a threat to mankind (can't tell more, otherwise it will spoil the story); from here you can see Tokiko cares alot about Kazuki and she want to do everything to help him in no matter what.

Buso Renkin is not a masterpiece, but it really deserves a place in the hearts of manga readers or anime watchers.

i had read it and i found it quite interesting however the way of fighting in this manga kinda bored me. I prefer RK figthing scene. humor part is good and it really entertain me. overall the storyline is great and deep than what you expected and make me wonder what is going to happen next.

If you're gonna read it with an expectation to find somekind of RK clone. Then you'd better off not reading it. It's a whole different world in this series. It's about alchemy not about a samurai. It's a kind of comedy not something that's pretty much serious like RK. Overall I think it's a good manga and we need to complement the mangaka. It's not an easy thing to change the way you write a story.

it started out quite badly. apparently, as the story progresses, it gets even better.

I don't know why people are saying Buso flat out sucks. It isn't anything revolutionary, but it's not all bad. It has some cool characters (Tokiko and Captain Bravo). It also has a lot of cool original weapon designs. I personally think Kazuki's sunlight heart is a really cool weapon. He makes for quite the character in the Jump series of games. =P

While this can be written off as generic, I would have to agree. The only thing that sets this apart is the weapon designs. Other than that, it's your average shonen jump title. Look into this if you are a jump junkie like me.

I really don't think this series deserves the low scores, it's like ppl are rating it by comparison to Rurouni Kenshin rather then it's own value as a series. I am sure if ppl didn't even know he did RK before the ratings would be much higher.

Would probably vote a 8 but I want to get the rating up.
