Description
Teased unmercifully for his past as an orphan and a slave, Teito has only his best friend Mikage to ease his days at the elite Barsburg Academy - and his mastery of the magical art of Zaiphon! But even that will not be enough to save him when he discovers a horrifying secret behind the ruling Empire. Trapped in an ancient battle between a wicked Death God and the Seven Ghosts and guided by three mysterious priests, Teito discovers a power that could save the world... and shed light on his own mysterious past.

I totally loved this manga from the beginning till the end. Totally worth the time! The art was nice, chibi forms were unbelievably cute. Sometimes it was really suspense, sometimes so sad it made me cry, but almost all the time it was great fun. At first I was reluctant 'cos it was about bishops and such, but after I saw Frau... it wasn't a problem anymore biggrin. Now I can't believe it's over TT_TT

I've seeen the anime and it was also great (fun, music, art,...)

...that I almost drowned in the OCEAN of Ho Yay in this series. xDxD There are two semi-main female characters in this manga, fifty male ones - and all the boys are beautiful.

It was good, though. The author has vision.. whether the artist has skill is another matter. 07 Ghost, like other people have said, is very hard to read. The art is gorgeous, but it seems to be mostly concentrating on 'How cool can I make this panel?!?! omg PERSPECTIVE" without thinking about telling the reader what's happening. So you end up with a lot of battle scenes full of fancy swoopy lines, but with no idea what's going on. This is a major turn-off early on in the story, and while it does get better, I still struggle with it 70 chapters on.

If you can get over that, it's captivating. The characters are fun, the world is evil, and the story is amazing. I loved it.. when I could tell what was happening.

This manga is a beautiful piece of work with a plot that keeps constantly keeps you in suspense, fantastic battles ( i love the zaiphon) , characters with colourful personalities ( Frau) and messages about friendship and love that are brought across well. The anime is awesome too and i really hope there'll be a second season

Not sure why so many people find this confusing....

The plot is widespread a bit; that is to say characters aren't standing around with neon picket signs telling you what's happening. I always thought that the whole point of reading something was to figure that out for yourself...

There are a lot of flashbacks, but they are relevant and I had no problem with them. As for people showing up to move the plot along...uhhh. That's in just about every book ever written.

Are there better manga out there? Not sure. "better" is a relative term. As for me, I enjoy reading this manga and I will conitue to do so.

Ps If you want an example of ambiguous flashbacks and confusing plot try Amatsuki. (still like it though).

I can't make it past the 2nd volume. The story is very badly organized, the art makes it extremely difficult to decipher as to what is occurring. The strange magic and folklore is suddenly shoved down your throat and its hard to grasp what each magical term refers to. It's extremely hard to like any of the characters because just like the rest of the story, they get shoved down your throat and it's hard to tell them apart.

There is no logic, no coherent order, nothing in this story. The whole time I'm reading I keep wondering "what the heck is going on?" This mangaka may have interesting ideas, but she/he needs to learn how to build up a story properly.

@kevintheman if you took your sweet time to read on you'd have found out that the military let Taito go on purpose. Later on it gets revealed why.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
They think the only way to awaken Taito's sealed memories is herding him, torturing him mentally, hunting him whereever he goes. Later on they retrieve him again.

And I have to agree about the annoying flashbacks, they get randomly thrown in sometimes and at cliff hanger situations too x.x
Furthermore I disliked the Raphael-Mikael thing that's going on, torturing their own country's children...q.q

Just crap garbage

I’ve trouble thinking this is readable.

Hello? You have the brightest , fastest and smartest student hanging around and you’re smart enough to pull off a conspiracy but you don’t have the brains to implement enough security, to stop him from escaping? Your so-called training center is located near a city or another country and it’s supposed to be top secret and unimpetrenable and isolated. Riggghhttt.

If anyone used logic, the most suspicious people are also those who’re high up in authority. Anyone experienced in military, warfare and politics would be accustomed to such betrayal but noooo, nobody knows.

The characters jump into scene after scene where they always meet up with people that somehow possess the “thingamagic” to unlock the next stage of the plot. The characters are smart to do all sorts of things but they’re also dumb enough to fall into traps all the time. No, make it “dumb enough to get killed even if the readers already know they’re going to die”.

If that wasn’t bad enough, the scenes jump around all the time. The type of conspiracy is just like Naruto, Black Cat, Bleach, etc. but done more crappily, though this time it’s supernatural conspiracy.

I completely regretted wasting my time on this pile of garbage. Shouldn’t have listened to my friend, now he owes me lunch.

An incredible manga/anime series! The story is interesting and there are plenty of bishie guys! I would seriously recommend this, I love the art and animation, Frau and Hyuuga are hilarious characters and Tieto and Mikage are so sweet! My favourite manga/anime so far.

Having watched the Anime first, I then read the Manga which is of course, much more amazing (though I loved the Anime too.)

I registered especially to write this. Honestly, it is not 'shoujo' like the other 'shoujo'. I would classify it as Shounen. Especially after reading the manga, it is most definitely shounen for me. If like me, you love FMA or Pandora hearts then I would definitely recommend this.

I love the contrast of the Church and Military, and the characters are all mind blowing.

I've been following this series for quite a few years now and I can honestly say that it is one of my all time favorite series, fo' sho'.

I just love the characters, the way they interact, and how close their relationships to one another become. More so since at the beginning Teito really isn't the most sociable person, but later you realize that the relationships within this series are kind of a big deal, especially Frau and Teito's (but that may just be because I'm biased). It's also nice to see how well the characters develop throughout the series and seeing how much Teito, and the people he affects, grow.

The story also develops and unfolds rather nicely, there are some slow points every once in a while, but it's all important to the storyline more or less, so don't jump the gun and drop the series just because of something so trivial.

Lastly, the art is just beautiful is does justice to the story. It may seem "girly", as most of my male friends have called it, but they all enjoyed it once they read it. So don't let it scare you! And I also will point out that it's not a Shounen-ai series, though I will be more than happy if it became that way (I can sense that sort of connection happening with Frau and Teito at any moment now).
