Repetitive, No Movement in Plot; Wasted Art Talent

The art was vivid, dark and dramatic, if clichéd. Alas, the story was so repetitive and lacking in substance, curiosity and movement that I had to force myself to finish the first two volumes in order to give it a fair try.

I really dug this story for quite a while, even if it tended to be a bit unneccesarily violent and such at times. But the recent 14+ chapters where a main heroine gets raped and the main character tries to find/save her is a bit too much, I had to drop it a few chapters in, not because it was too intense, but because it was becoming boring and long and just overall poorly executed.

Wolf Guy…what a strange beast it is. I find myself captivated by it in spite of its glaring, myriad flaws.

The series is shameless in its gratuity--almost pornographic, really. The author can't go one volume without showing Ms. Aoshika’s tits, or attempted rape, or someone jizzing themselves. Likewise with the violence; there's a masochistic undertone to the beatings Inugami takes, seeing how pointlessly brutal they are.

Clearly, this is a Seinen suffering from Sekirei Syndrome--there are several more mature series done far more tastefully. A lot of the graphic elements feel tacked on for little more than shock value.

None of the characters are particularly original or appealing. Some are interesting—Haguro and his slutty girlfriend come to mind—but only for being so over-the-top and unrelatable. Inugami himself is an unlikeably pompous bastard; Ms. Aoshika’s only interesting traits are A) her massive tits, B) getting raped when she was younger, and C) her pedophilic, fanservicey lust for Inugami.

The plot feints in potentially interesting directions…but it’s usually centered around Inugami being a jerkass, getting knocked around, turning into a wolf, and pretending he doesn’t want to fuck his teacher. The author tries mightily to make him seem relatable, but it’s all stuff we’ve seen before (“He was born under an unlucky star! He’s scared of trusting people! He’s an alienated youth in a non-traditional family setting!”).

And yet.

Given all that, of the half-dozen non-Jump series I’m reading, it’s the only manga I’ve marathoned and caught up with. Vinland Saga, in contrast, was vastly superior right out of the gate, and I’m still content reading a chapter a day. Why is that?

The incredible artwork, for one thing. It’s a damn shame the artist is being wasted on such a crappy story—there are several stunning moments throughout the work. One can only imagine the things they could do with a more capable partner.

But beyond that, it’s basically popcorn. For all the story’s flaws and preachy pretentiousness, it’s fun to just sort of breeze through it with your brain turned off and enjoy the ride.

Thus, while every instinct tells me to say otherwise, I can’t give this any less than a 7.5.

i swear this was one of the most interesting stories i have read in a long while. although along the way i felt mentally exhausted and even had to stop reading at one point on threat of hurling i loved this so much.
in the beginning it was a bit dull sadly a bit amateurish the feeling of the characters really showed through
i personally have never even given a second thought to seinen mangas as i hate all the... crudity of it. but this had just enough emotion to nearly bring me to tears. at one point i was actually pleading for things not to happen that in the end did. it has been a long time since I’ve read a book that kept me this much on edge. the plot was far from predictable
unfortunately i can't give this a perfect ten for the vary fact of well the main characters breast and the art of the manga in general. while it fit the story in it disturbing way i have to deduct points for how distracting every thing was

Author Issues

Any manga lover would aprecciate one of the most incredible artworks never drawn in manga universe, but that is all there's to it.
I can stand violence, gore, i can even enjoy it sometimes even when it's not the thing I look for when reading manga.
Gantz is one of the mangas i've enjoyed the most throught years of manga(except yokohama arc), nontheless Wolfguy really makes me sick, the big difference in masterpiece Gantz is the realism in the uglinnes of the human beings, is real, shelffines, fear, bravery , passion, love...when compared to Wolfguy you find to much psicopatic characters, a real abuse of the psicopatic behaviour, disturbing.
When reading manga or a book even any other format of fiction if you're attentive enough you can feel the author in it. Reading Wolguy the only thing in my mind is that this author is a tormented soul, a person with serious problems, especially with women, who doesn't understand the world. Just so you can get my point, the thing that can destroy people's lives in the brain of this author it's not the rape itself, the worst would be if they loaded the video on the net...¿What's the matter with this author? He doesn't understand basic emotions, so you can't sympathize with him.
A golden rule in fiction, you can torture your readers only when your work is great, otherwise it's pretentious

TABATA Yoshiaki 0/10
YUGO Yuuki 9/10

If i were the artist in this combo i would look for another coworker.

This series makes wild uproar because of the apparent lack of werewolves in anime/manga. But if this as the manga depicts is what a werewolf should be like, it's a superficial and laughable creature.

I wish that I could just sum up what I think about this manga in one word seeing as readers are entranced by empty words such as "amazing", "cool", "awesome", etc. but I just couldn't bear myself to join the pack (no pun intended).

I'm sorry but this manga is a rip-off. A huge disappointment, nothing but a failed presumptuous gimmick. The average rating and the rave reviews in here are misleading. Other than the amusing beatings, slashing, kicking, slamming, and whatnot that were received by the Wolf Guy, there's little to chew on. I'm left with the characters--both protagonists and antagonists--to save me from the weak plot but they, too, are hopeless. They have little to no redeeming qualities: Wolf Guy might be mystified but smug, the female teacher is dull, and the rest of the characters are third-rate.

I know, why would I expect realism in my manga, or fiction for that matter? However, it's terribly unfair to compare this manga with Until Death Do Us Part, etc. even when the latter also has surrealism in its plot. Because as far as I know, UDDUP characters are its driving force. They have their own idiosyncrasies to look out for and to relate to whereas this manga hasn't anyone or anything for that matter.

Wolfen Crest's storyline is frivolous, which wouldn't be a problem if the characters weren't so "fake". By that I mean, there must be some paradoxes within the characters. This series' characters are so formulaic and bland that it's hard to care if any of them die of shock, ravaged by humans or ripped apart by ravenous creatures that come out of nowhere. I like both realism and supernatural in my fiction but this has neither an ounce of realism nor the excitement of supernatural. For a series about the mysticalities that are werewolves, it proves to be strangely less mysterious and more predictable as it goes on.

This series might appeal to the general or the younger masses, but it's more apt to say that it is for the "less sophisticated readers" who want a series to pass time and enjoy without having the need to digest anything. Because the only thing that will keep your attention to this manga is the artwork and fanservice. This is probably what swayed most of the readers to this inane series in the first place.

tl;dr: Waste of my time.

wow the beginning was good but towards the 70's stuff was kinda....yeah mega spoilers ahead so watch out

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
wow is all i can say man we really have some main character here, my god i know the creater wanted this to be realistic but with a little fantasy but come on its getting too ridiculous, let the main character save the fucking girl man, Akira is so garbage now he didnt stop the teacher from first getting kidnapped and molested, second he didnt stop her from getting raped by his enemy, after that he didnt stop her from getting GANG raped!!, next he didnt stop the video of all of this getting posted online for every one to see, my god how lame of a male lead can you be, fucking acomplish something!! , plus his general attitude now pisses me off, i know you got some moral code like batman but just kill Haguro he dont deserve to live, hes a freaken monster and if you had just killed him before chiba would be alive and the woman you love wouldnt be captured and getting gang raped, come on youre a werewolf !!!! youre better then him in every way and you end up being pathetic plus Ryuuko too he should have atleast punched her since she caused the teacher being raped but no Akira just loves only giving you a scary face then letting you go............well any way i just had to get that off my chest and im up to chapter 93 so far so i wonder how this event will turn out cause they really fucked up the teacher so she should be messed up mentally for the rest of her life and i hope shes not pregnent by her rapists and also how the fuck they gonna end up together after all the shit thats going on, i not trying to be an asshole but if they end up together then Akira is a better man then most, to just say " oh lets just forget you got gang raped for hours and start going out," come on isnt it cruel of the author to let a bunch of guy have there way with the protaganist's girl, wtf was he thinking or did he just want to show rape scenes for about 10 chapters

this used to be 10 to me mainly cause of the art and story was interesting but after the current events........

this is my recent finishing of the manga update and i have to say it didnt get better and the ending was mediocre at best honestly i dont know why the author ruined such a good manga, really if you wanted to draw an extra long rape fantasy, make some hentai on the side or something dont just put it in a good ongoing manga. honestly im only giving this a 7 because there is a separate artist and author for this and the artist did a great job plus i did like everything before the raping.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
its not even that im against reading dark stories and i know i said this already but why the fuck did it have to be the heros girl come on really???!!! they could have raped any other girl but her to me and not just raped but destroyed and publicly humiliated i mean how many mangas end with "oh the villain fucked and gangbanged my girl"

i know this is their manga and they can do whatever they want but you got to think of your characters and the readers supporting you as well

Wolf Guy

This isn't even contextually comparable to Berserk. Berserk actually does shit to make a point, or further the story.

Wolf Guy on the other went straight into gratuitous, awful, pandering. It goes past the point where we get the message or feel the gravity of the scene. At some point it is no longer an emotional device and instead straight up masturbation. People think that you can throw together violence, sex, and some cheesy brooding main character and voila, you've got grade A seinen! But it doesn't work that way. Even ignoring the rape, the series suffers from that corny, over the top, metal cartoony, seinen vibe.

Series like Nausicaa, Lone Wolf and Cub, Phoenix, etc. far surpass anything Wolf Guy is praised to be. Even Tabata's other work Akametsu puts Wolf Guy to shame.

Don't get me wrong Wolf Guy is still a decent series, but a masterpiece? Not really.

A manga showing the real dark side of human

Rating: 8.0  / 10.0
Reasons you should read this manga-
1.A new face of psyocological manga.
2.For those who say manga is too violent as it shows too much rapes.
The reason is simple, author wants to make you feel the pain, the teacher is suffering.
Author wants to tell you, that a person for achieving his aim can go to the darkest side of hell.
Manga shows that fact as you can see the villain just to make pain to protagonist he and his gang rapes his love interest.
It is a great manga. No one is telling you to read this manga. It is the real side of the world.
It is not a children's fairy tale.

read 2-3 volumes of rape
as it progressed, while it does add to the series, dragging that particular part of the story on for that long was highly unnecessary.

I would definitely recommend reading the series if you can handle it~ Otherwise, this manga is not for the faint of heart.
