i guess it was my first harem manga. needless to say i was pretty absorbed in it at the time. artwork is fantastic, it couldnt be stressed enough. if you don't like the story then at least read for the art. it does get loopy but since it was my first at that time, it left an impression on me. i don't feel i liked it enough to look back at it, but i found it to be a pretty good series.

Realistic and Mature

I thing I like about this manga is its realistic ending, the process of how the protagonist end up with
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Nishino
was slowly fed in the chapters of the manga. In both me first reading and second reading, it was clear that the protagonist was confused about his feelings at first, but the last volume
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
and some dates with Nishino
shows that he was clearly emotionally invested to her than the others. The development of the characters except for satsuki were slowly integrated in the story because that's just how it is as a teenager would do.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Personally how I see it is that, Manaka's feelings for Aya was at first deeper than any other character, but as the story progress Nishino with her maturity and development in chasing her dream, plus the fact that she is willing to be by Manaka's side in time of need, and is open to her feelings, most of all understanding Manaka's weakness and sentiments and choosing to forgive him for his transgressions. All balanced and is not in a Satsuki type of suffocating display of affection, makes her the realistic choice.
and lastly...
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
the strongest and most impactful line for me in the whole series was when Aya confessed through the club room door and Manaka deep in thought realized by himself that he would rather see Nishino smile again than chase after Aya to make her tears stop. (Come on, if that's not love for you I don't know what else is lol)

Another good point in this series is that it didn't just focus/develop the romance story of the characters one important development is the protagonist dreams and aspirations. Which was beautifully and slowly developed with ups and downs.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Manaka's dream of creating a movie with Aya was not yet reach but he is still striving hard to complete such, ending in a good point where he's already under a good director just waiting for the right time to direct
the characters dreams were shown in the end.

Lastly, the ending was really really good!
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
from the last date till the airport scene it was heartbreaking, but the "don't look back" and the promise to go back together after reaching thier separate dreams just makes my heart and mind sooo happy (one word guys, priorities, dreams before anything) the ending brings out the hopeless romantic inside me, that in the end someone will understand and will sacrifice his/her time to progress as individual but in the end they still know where their hearts belong.
this series really touched my heart, and I hope in some way it inspired you too.

Long post, but necessary to express my admiration to this series.

Keeps On Surprising Until the End

Previous commentators have noted a lot of the flaws in this manga - Manaka is aggravatingly indecisive and his bumbling behavior, where the majority of his encounters with women involve his freaking out somehow and knocking them over for the obligatory panty shot, feel a bit cringy after a while. He's somewhere in the middle among harem male leads in that he's not particularly 'harem-worthy' (as in he doesn't really do anything that makes you say "yes, in real life this guy could actually make multiple girls interested in him at once", but he's not a total wet blanket or someone who seems annoyed by the attention (usually the worst kind if not treated right). He's not especially helpful or considerate but I guess his passion for films is kind of endearing.

That being said, the ending broke my expectations and that's why I gave it a better-than-average rating.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Until the last few chapters, I was 100% sure that he would end up with Toujou Aya. In typical harem manga you often know early on who is going to win, if it's not a harem ending. Everything, especially Nishino Tsukasa going to France, indicated that the two would be left to finally be together. She seems at first like an obvious 'hidden gem' character - one who ends up stealing the show from the original love interest. Yet Tsukasa turns out to be that girl and I suppose it makes sense because of course, Aya was really the original and their encounter was an accident. It's certainly a much more surprising, last-minute twist than Nisekoi's.

That being said I can't say I'm totally happy with the ending or plot. There's a lot of angst in the story and I suppose I like the realistic ending - not everyone ends up immediately with their high school sweetheart and Manaka seems to come into his own, independent of Toujou and her scripts, and she does the same independent of him. Yet I don't really feel satisfied with the way that he reunited with Tsukasa five years later without pursuing his obvious chemistry with Toujou at all. Given the build-up, the abruptness of the break between him and Toujou feels poorly planned, as does the reunion with Tsukasa when every indication was that they were through. In the end they all are following their own dreams without relying on or holding people down, but that kind of ruins the whole network of support and friendship build up in the story. Toujou's self-doubt and stress over her writing never really ends up addressed. I suppose her giving him the notebook signals that she's trying to write for her own sake, rather than for his eyes, but I never really felt that his and Tsukasa's relationship had the same kind of mutual support and maybe that is why his ending up with her felt less 'right' to me.

Also I can't help but feel bad for Satsuki and Amachi. They might not be complex characters but I was sure that they would have some kind of happier ending, maybe with one another. Satsuki's constant, desperate attempts to get Manaka's attention when he constantly forced himself to ignore her were one of the more uncomfortable parts of the story. Underneath the ecchi there's a girl constantly feeling the pain of rejection and taking it out on herself.

Part of me wanted a harem ending, or at least a feel-good, "good friends/collaborators" ending with Toujou, but I'm not going to begrudge the ending when it took risks while still fitting in, in hindsight, with the development of the plot.

My English quite bad, so I’m sorry in advance.

When I read the synopsis about a boy look for a girl wearing strawberry panties… i said, this is stupid. However, I tried to read. I found out this is good. Very good story actually.

This story quite similar with “I’’s” , however strawberry 100% is better. Very detail story, good character development, and mixture of emotion… I like it a lot.

A drawnout harem manga but one of the best endings ever

I personally consider this ending to be the best of all times. The decision the protagonist took show a lot of maturity. Instead of simply blindly following his idiotic pursual of his "panty girl" actually stops and consider his girlfriend and his own feelings and stood by them.

A deviation from the normal boy-meets-girl boy-get-girl harem ending splendidly told

What the HELL did I just read!?

For a harem manga, IHP really surprised me. There's a lot of depth I wasn't expecting, and the story and characters are really well composed. The ending sure hit me like a ton of bricks though. Everything builds up over the first 16 volumes, and then it just feels like everything comes crashing down starting with volume 17. Not that "crashing down" implies anything bad, but all the emotion and excitement built up over all those pages really hits hard when you realize it's all coming to an end, and there's nothing to do about it.

Without spoiling too much, I would like to get my $0.02 in about the ending. As a harem, the plot focuses around 4 girls who fall in love with the central character, Manaka. Generic and overused as this may be, all the characters are really well developed, and I ended up being able to sympathize with all of the girls' positions. I think in this manner, it's possible the author wrote herself into a corner. But her handling of the ending was pretty good -- in fact, I'm not sure it could be handled any better, given the circumstances in the story. But my problem with the ending has nothing to do with what girl he ends up with. It's that it's actually "the end". In the sense that, after high school, people end up going their separate ways, and life really just changes fundamentally. It's a tough turning point to deal with in real life, so it's tough reading about it with well-developed characters that you can actually feel attached to, provided you can get into the story.

Speaking of getting into the story, for a title with such a simple, childish initial premise, IHP actually delivers quite a lot of depth. It's a "coming of age" type of story, so there's a lot of exploration of developing emotions, and the meaning of love, and friendship. It's tough sorting out conflicting feelings when you're experiencing them for the first time; What is love? What makes it different than having a great friendship? Where is the line dividing the two? How do you deal with a one-sided romance, when your feelings are strong enough to make you willing to hold out for the chance no matter the odds? These questions, and more, are explored, and except for the ending (hey, the author had to end it sometime), they're mostly left for the reader to think about -- things are presented, characters react differently depending on their personality, and then you're left to think about it all.

I also enjoyed -- as I realized about 6 or 8 volumes in -- that the characters change over time. Manaka's a naive, bumbling, indecisive idiot at the start, but he actually grows and learns from his mistakes (even if he doesn't end up always acting on what he learns, he still realizes he's making a mistake). In the same manner, each of the characters deals with their own problems and feelings, and there is some growth, which I really appreciated. Otherwise this title would have been so repetitive and boring by a few volumes in, I'd certainly have dropped it.

The one overarching message I got from IHP, though, is to not let yourself be too indecisive. It's important to know what you want, and make decisions based on that - not leave things hanging and unanswered. Manaka has a real problem with his indecisiveness, and it ends up hurting every single one of the characters in this story - tremendously. In the end, he does learn to deal with it, but it is difficult watching him continually leave things without making any choice. The one refreshing thing about Manaka's indecisiveness is that he never allows himself to actually take advantage of any of the girls in a way that they may later regret (or that may hurt the others). While that's also an extremely frustrating aspect of Manaka's behavior, it's one that I respect, and am grateful the author went that direction with him.

I hate to sound like I'm gushing over what, on the surface, seems like a cheap ecchi title whose sole purpose in existing is to satisfy the carnal desires of pubescent teen-age boys, but Ichigo 100% was seriously one helluva ride, and although I found myself frustrated at a lot of points, it was, in the end, quite a fun ride indeed. Get past the never-gonna-happen dramatic buildups with no climax (grrr, Manaka), and it's likely you'll thoroughly enjoy this. Don't, and you probably won't make it past the first couple of volumes.

This is probably one of the best harem series out there. It still suffers from silly fan service, but it has a large amount of interesting plot and character development. The relationships change quite a bit, which drives the story forwards. The ending, although not what I wanted, was very enjoyable and naturally followed the development of the story.

Of course, there is room improvement. The series is too long, so there's a lot of boring filler material. Also, the relationships weren't dynamic enough. Some serious events, like a harem girl falling in love with someone else, that forced Junpei to make up his mind faster would have made the story more exciting and realistic.

My Absolute Favorite Harem Manga

Seriously, I rarely like a harem manga. Too much ecchi, cheesy romance, and drama for my taste, not to mention clueless and stupid male protagonists and over-the-top female leads. Even though Ichigo 100% definately has these elements( I was going to drop 4 volumes in...) I'm glad I stuck to it. The girl he chose at the end totally made me forgive the series for its flaws. In fact, what was going for between these two made it one of the most inspirational romances ever, which is extremely rare for a harem series. Props to the mangaka on this work.

My opinion.

Well in my opinion this is one of the best, if not the best comedy/romance manga's that i've read up till now. And i've read a lot of them... a lot. Anyway, generally it was normal comedy/romance scenes... The kind of scenes before the whole "borderline h" genre. Anyway, what differentiates this manga from general comedy/romance manga's is the ending. Whoever is interested in reading comedy/romance should read this one... and i'll tell you this... you won't guess the ending biggrin. I'd give it an 11 rating if i could because this manga is that exceptional.
My rating... 10.

The Best manga for me

I did not expect a lot from this manga at first. I've read it almost 4 years ago and stopped until last week. I started it all over reading it again. It's the only manga i read that gave me this feeling of happiness, it made me feel satisfied. The artwork and character development seems to be related to real life! Though i love reading manga all over again, this time, it made me feel that i should move on to the next chapter. haha! Though it is finished, Mizuki Kawashita is really great from artwork to story lines, how the characters develop and such. Overall, this is the best manga that i have read! Thanks to all that contributed to the development of ichigo 100%!
