Description
From Wasurenagusa:
As a child Tanabe was always tagging behind Haruyama, but in high-school after he became a ping-pong ace their relationship is gradually getting worse. Who is the one tagging along for real and why is Tanabe always so quiet? A touching and yet funny story with ping-pong as its background.
This volume also contains a one-shot about one very interesting hairdresser and a two-chapter story about a dentist and his fated client.

The last story would have been perfect if I didn't have a phobia of dental-work. A lot of the story takes place while Hoshino is working on Sugita's mouth, and the whole time, I couldn't stop imagining it and cringing, because of my phobia. So if the mere mention of fillings or teeth-cleanings activates a phobia for you, I recommend skipping it. On the other hand, the rest of the story was quite good, and I laughed at the end when I realized some of the implications about the beginning of the story, according to something Hoshino says then.

I see that everybody agrees that the main story wasn't really memorable, but the side stories were quite different and fun to read Not that the main story was bad, just that it sounded pretty classical for a yaoi. The hairdresser story reminded me of some of the funny oneshots by Saika Kunieda and that is a huge compliment coming from me
A good read

Not the most outstanding manga I've read, but definitely worth the time. If you like 'school' stories, the first one here is quite interesting. I think I'm in the rarity with the second and third, however.. I'm not much for the hairdresser story (a tad simple/'cute' for my tastes) and I'm crazy about the third one with the doctor. I love that guy! Very fascinating.
The characters seem very real; that's one thing this mangaka seems to do very well. Her art style is nice to look at, and she draws realistic emotion and genuine conflict in their expressions and behaviors. So even if the stories are a tad simple or rushed (a habit for rushed endings, it seems), they're done well, and things fit together nicely.

As usual I really adore the hate to love/want someone but don't know it, type of story lines so it was pretty enjoyable. Not my favorite but I am a bit of a sucker for school boys.
Like lozzenator says, the hairdresser story was really cute. I love how the hairdresser looked in high school and that the uke was absolutely smitten with him.
Though I wasn't completely attached to the dentist story line. It isn't that I am opposed to that type of interaction I just would have liked a little more story set up before that whole "drill" bit.

I loved the one-shot about the hairdresser the most. The artwork was outstanding- it's rare to see any mangaka take the time to draw a realistic face of a character, not just pretty faces that all look alike. And Hidaka sensei draws the detail of the scissors and other tools in his back pocket with such detail. You gotta respect that, man.
The first two chapters were good but didn't find it particularly memorable.

From what I've read of the two scanlated chapters, Shiranai Kao is a first-rate yaoi manga. It has that streamlined feel that I think is getting appreciated these days (modern, good art, a bit more internal conflict, slice-of-life). It's easy to get attached to the characters, and nothing seems too rushed. Shmexy + Logical Plot = YAY
