Recommended to all shoujo-fans.

Love it. I wonder why I didn't pick this up earlier. I really got teary towards the end when they were going in full detail of the past life. For some reason, I felt there were filler moments at times, but other than that, recommended to all shoujo fans.

And BL fans, don't get your hopes up (like me, lol).

I think this must have been one of the best mangas I've read in a long, long time. The art is beautiful, although not amazing, but it is the story that really captures you. From beginning to end, everything flows together, everything makes sense, and everything is sweet, sad, touching, tragic and wonderful. You find yourself thinking back on early scenes, going "Oh.. so that's why!" and "Now I understand this better."

Keidai is a bit of a spaz, but he gets better, and he's never so dumb he's annoying. In fact, if he didn't have the personality he does, he'd be a bit of a Mary Sue xD And after a while, you begin to know the characters so well you can think like them. NG Life had all the cliches - the evil school teacher, the best childhood friend, the love rival, the love rival for the other person - and it took all of them and turned each character into someone you'd love, root for and enjoy reading about. For a manga where every character has two different names, it was remarkably easy to keep the cast straight.

And that's not even to mention all the ROFL moments scattered liberally around. The mangaka has a great sense of humour to add to her amazing storytelling skills. Plus the aww/kiss scenes were so awwww, you can't help but reread them a few times, just to get your bandwidth's worth.

To sum it up, it was amazing. Read it. I think I might have cried. It certainly took me all the way from laughter to happiness to tears.

Can't get it out of my system

Normally, I'm able to close a good book or finish a good manga, cherish the experience for a moment, and move on, starting another one. Not NG Life. I'm still caught up in the emotions. So I'm trying to get them out by writing this review.

Actually, it reminded of Fruits Basket in a way, though a good bit lighter. Both have lots of funny moments (thought NG is more lol than FB) but they also have deep emotions that really affect the reader. I'm not often moved to physical expression by manga or books, but in FB, and here, especially at the end, I'll admit that I teared up.

I thought the mangaka paced it well, developing the story, bringing in new characters and showing us glimpses of the past. The protagonist is absolutely amazing. Such an interesting, animated, alive character. Unique, a rare thing in manga. His panic attacks are hilarious, but he also has some moments where he was extremely cool--those kiss scenes for one wink The other characters were developed well too. The story was still fairly Saeki-centric, but I feel that the mangaka spent enough time on the other character's stories to make those characters real, with their own lives and feelings rather than being completely subordinate to the protagonist.

Anyway, my opinion? If you don't read this, you'll miss out.

I swear, I nearly died laughing on this. Considering I usually stay up to finish reading things, it wasn't too awesome when I was rolling around, laughing hysterically, but you know, it was worth it! It's light-hearted, and you can easily tell who he's going to end up with.... but it made me laugh so much every volume. You really want to shake Keidai sometimes, but he's cool other times. It's original, and I like the boy POV. It's just overall, a cute and funny series

I like this manga a lot! The plot's something I've definitely never seen done (past lives, shounen-ai/shoujo love triangle), plus it has such hilarious moments. I haven't laughed this much reading a manga in so long. The facial expressions of Keidai (the main character) are ace!! Check it out!

P.S. Not a full 10 though because it's slowly degenerating into a normal shoujo romance.

it had an interesting plot... but...

the first few chapters that I've read was too slow. I'll read on for some more and see if it changes... but it's more likely that i'd drop this out of boredom

It is amazing. The completion of the later arcs is amazing, sad and happy and heart jerking and just nice. The last couple volumes has the main character MUCH less of that sappy romantic comedy guy you see so much of in the beginnign chapters (he actually becomes very different when he realizes his feelings, and you go omg this is such a cool character).
The story is good too. The last couple of chapters explain in vivid detail exactly what happens, and it is gold. The "story" behind it all is pretty interesting, nothing AMAZING ZOMG or anything, but its execution, the way the author does it, is absolutely top tier ability. Mikage/delos's little side story at the end, those last couple pages of his side chapter.... wow.
The first volume can put you off, as well as various other bits of the story where it feels like the story's rehashed or resued. But get to the end, and it is nothing short of amazing.

10 for everything, -1 for all that we sorta have to "trudge" through to get to this good stuff.

A funny fluffy manga that you can read when you just want something light. An original plot. Keidai is amusing, and although sometimes you feel like smacking him, other times you'd like to squeeze him to death. The introduction of a new character, Serena's "sister", was awesome. Can't wait for a new release. It's too bad the online scans, well, suck.
