I've found a certain trend with the few manwhas that I've read - they are always deeply psychological and pretty angsty (vs. the atmosphere of manga). In Let Dai this angst is in no way corny, because Woon Soo-yeon is excellent at justifying everyone's feelings. Even with the amount of violence and tragedy this manwaha has, I still tend to feel more captivated by the intensity and sadness of everything than cheated out of emotional plot development.

One thing I would warn about is that this is not a love story you want to read if you're just horny. Yes, there is definitely raw sexual attraction between the two main characters, but I believe Soo-yeon means to place more emphasis on the emotional bonding/philosophical aspect of the relationship than anything physical. If you try to twist their relationship one of those "sad uke! violent seme! squeeee!!!" things, you're overlooking the true meaning.

That being said, I'm gonna go round up some good old-fashioned smut to indulge in...

Edit: I found a picture of model Boyd Holbrook that really looks like Jaehee in the later volumes (though I guess you can make up your own mind about it. maybe you'll think it's more like Dai than Jaehee) http://i41.tinypic.com/axlmwh.jpg

I'm in love with this series. It's not really your typical BL manga, you won't find any "hot steamy sex scenes" here. It's dark, complicated and it definitely tugs at your heart strings, but I find the relationship between the main characters beautiful and intoxicating. I guess I'm twisted in my own way....

A series that BL fans should definitely read.

It was hard to understand the first chapter and what was happening, but then I realized that this was Korean and you read it left-right.

The romance was weird. A lot of angst and emo poetry but I never really felt it. Also, no sex ever, which is odd. Except for the assumed rape, theres no mention of anything sexual between the two main love interests or even from any couple in the story. A lot of sadomaschism and abuse. Everyone gets beat up, and they're pretty much asking for it. Dai is extremely cruel and violent, even towards the one he loves, which i find repulsive but facinating to watch. I find all the characters annoying save Goohee, Eunhyung, Crangela, and few others. Especially the main love triangle, they're soul-wrenchingly obsessed over each other and I can't understand why. Like I know they're all supposedly gorgeous but I'm not feeling it.

Despite all the flaws mentioned, it was still incredibly entertaining. I could not stop reading. There was one part where I could not stop crying. Not going to say what it was but you will know. Probably the most heart-wrenching chapter I've ever read.

And the ending was abrupt but I didn't think it was so terrible that it took away from the series.

Not really that deep, but better than Totally Captivated

I'm not really into Korean manhwa since the plots are usually ordinary and dramatic. Let Dai has poor excuses and it feels like the author tried to be deep with the characters' emotions, but in my opinion she fail. However, if you compare this with Totally Captivated, Let Dai is much, much better, in both art and content. I still give it an 8, because the ending has caught me.

minor problems, major story

This was a really great manhwa, I mean, it wasn't your typical school-life genre or your typical shounen-ai. Honestly, even a person who doesn't like homosexual relationships would enjoy this I think.
Spoiler (highlight to view)
I mean a person actually dies, and in such a way that it impacts the whole story and the audience. They don't go missing or insane, they actually die, which makes it so much more realistic in my eyes.

The only thing is that the ending is a bitch, and honestly, sometimes Jaehee really annoys me. I love his character, but the constant musings on the world and his INTENSE adoration for Dai is really overwhelming. And I find it difficult to believe that a guy like Dai wouldn't be scared away.
This isn't a big problem obviously, and more of a personal thing.

Also, the author sometimes brings in a random character or setting, that has no relevance later on, to clear up the story for the audience. Although it was helpful I feel that it made the story feel rushed in the end, like there wasn't enough time for a proper ending.

All in all, this was an amazing manhwa! Even though it had its short-comings (like everything else) it is probably the best illustrated story I have ever read. It was full of emotion, and the almost end was tear jerking. The art was great and the characters relatable. Obviously the author could have spent more volumes on it, but think of her poor suffering hands and wrists! 15 volumes is a lot for a manhwa, and it was worth reading every one of them! (haha, you can sometimes tell the author was becoming tired of drawing, as she used the same illustrations for certain panels, although, I would have done that too!)

I dropped this comic the first time I read it due to the violent nature of the manwa (with kids!)--as well as Jaehee's girlfriend's unfortunate predicament. I tried reading this again, months later, after remembering the great word play and talking about it with my online friends. I regret stopping to read this because of my disgust.

Please read this with an open mind and get ready for a lot of realisations. The translation was beautiful, yet I can't wonder how much better it would be if I understood Korean and read it as it is--minus the language barrier.

No, I'm not unsatisfied with the ending. It's a very deep and dark work of fiction. Yet, the ending was exhilirating and full of hope--it ended right at that moment where you are as excited as the main character. What more do you want?

Omg, I'm so furious and unsatisfied with the ending. The series was good but the ending was, ugh. I was like, wtf?! This could not be the last page that I'm reading right? There has to be more! I'm so sorry, I just finished reading the series and I am still reeling from the shock of it. I prepared myself for a really sad ending but the way the series ended? Totally unexpected.

Some more comments for the series: Sometimes, it was just too wordy. I got tired of reading too much text. I liked the development of the plot and the emotions are very good. Character development was done very well. Naru Hagi is really refreshing. :)

I was incredibly skeptical of this at first but heard constantly how amazing it was, and, needless to say, it was not a let down. Dai is absolutely cruel to Jaehee at first -- I was horrified by the brutality but it does ease up (slightly) towards the end. It's amazing, and the art is beautiful, a lot more than I originally gave it credit for.

the ending wasn't what I wanted but implied, so I'm happy with it.
it's amazing, let dai, and a definite read!

For real i have to say that i'm not interest in manhwa so much, it could be because of its art. However with this manhwa i have to admit that the art suits it than any others. It is very touching, i cried so much... The love is so beautiful, how could the gender still be asked for?
