Very beautiful. Every panel, every story, is a work of art. Some stories feel mellow, some feel action-filled, and others feel delicately beautiful. Either way, it's amazing. And there is always humor. I love the humor! Very, very good series!

This manga is really cool. I love how natsume gets along with some of the yokai and is now with people who take care of him. It's a must read manga that has lots of adventure an comedy I really love it but it is kind of slow and I wish Yuki Midorikawa would pick up the pace. Anybody who reads it would love it.
read it!!

if you've read hyakkiyakoushou then this will definitely remind you of it. only, natsume is like a light-hearted version of hyakkiyakoushou.the art is good, with comedy and touching scenes here and there. have read up to volume 2 ch.1 now and i love it ^^
Do read--

Midorikawa's drawings are beautiful - although not conventional. And definitely not typical shoujo. There is sort of a sense of moving and timelessness in how the story is moved along... or so it seems to me.
Read it for yourself.
So far, all the character dynamics are interesting, and this is making way for more interesting plot development~

Not too bad. There's certainly a nostalgic atmosphere to the story, which is nice. I also like how the author skillfully and subtly weave the main character's feelings into the story. The pace is calm and slow, with Natsume gradually developing in character. However, the episodic stories are becoming rather repetitive in terms of structure, which makes me start to lose interest. Natsume has already realized that he finally have both family and friends now. The main conflict now is to overcome the fear of losing his new friends and family if he tells them that he can see spirits - and by the looks of it, the author is going to really stretch that out. I just hope the author won't stretch it TOO long, because that would really kill the story. Otherwise, the plot is good. Go give it a try.
Watch the anime

Normally I prefer reading than watching but in this case you should try the anime. The anime is very similar to the manga but it is easier to understand what's happening and we see more action. There are 52 episodes so the manga is just a bit far ahead.
The story is great and it is really well built but I'm starting to get tired of it. I think it's already time to know what happened in the past with his grandmother and some other events but it's nothing that would stop me from reading it if it keeps delaying.

It is hard not to fall in love with the world of Natsume Yuujinchou. Every chapter is like a different story and every story is a difference experience. I am truly amazed at the author's ability to create such an extraordinary piece of art. It doesn't matter how many times I read it, I will always be drawn to the beautiful scenery and the feelings left behind by the words of the author.

It gives you a nostalgic and reflective feel, with some welcomed touches of humour.
In a way (the 'quiet supernatural' and folkloric approach ) reminds me of Selected Pandemonium and Mushishi. Natsume it's closer to the first in terms of feelings, human bonding and having the young protagonist inheriting a special abiltiy from his ancestor, while the art - a bit sketchy - reminds me a bit more of the second.
If you like Natsume, you'll probably enjoy these other two titles too ^_^.

The various supernatural aspects are all quite interesting. It's a few notches below Selected Pandemonium yet it holds its' place as a pleasant supernatural read. The strength of this series isn't really the main character but rather, the aspects like the book of friends, the kinds of youkai and spirits, etc. who dwell within the universe.
However for all its' charm, like the author’s previous works, it struggles when trying to maintain focus on relations and interactions between more than 2 characters. While some might see that as a plus, this puts a dent in fleshing out much of the cast.
Update: And also, maybe it's just me but her panels can be kinda plain at times: there seem to be a lot of near-empty panels in her artwork which she chooses to fill in with just a couple of lines. It's still kinda annoying because it's no better than "filler art".

A VERY mellow series with touching scenes here and there. The art has a dissipated feel to it, and may seem a bit sloppy at first. But once you're used to it, you will love it. There are light comedy in this too, once and a while. I highly recommend it!
