Still Worth A Shot

As many users have already spoiled why this manga is a bit polarising, I'd like to explain both sides instead, so that future readers can decide on their own. Currently at Ch.94. Review may change to reflect any plot development. Please note: everything I mention as pros and cons here can be debated depending on each one's view. Basically, you either love it or hate it.

Why do people like/love this manga?
- It has great art, great story concept, and noticeable character development. You either get hooked by the writing, or fall in love with the characters.

The heroine, Tia, is believably affected by what happened in her previous life. She works on changing her own fate and as a result comes to realise she herself has changed. I loved her and do not blame her for committing any 'mistakes' she made in the past.

Why do people dislike/hate this manga?
- This is where it's pretty much 'make it or break it' for some people: Tia's past life. One fan of this manga recommended to start reading from Chapter 7 and then return to Chapter 1-6, or to treat Ch.1-6 as a prologue somewhat. Basically, distance yourself from the past reality.

Even though many have spoiled it, I'll keep it under the spoiler tag. If you don't want to be spoiled, TL;DR- The Crown Prince and Future Emperor was an abusive as*h*le. Story points to an ending where Tia eventually ends up with Crown Prince, and readers are split into two camps: He is completely different from the previous timeline (fans) vs He is irredeemable and Tia falling for him is completely unbelievable.

SPOILERS:
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Previous Timeline (Ch.1-6) - Tia grew up in a dignified household closely tied to the Royal Family. Due to a (mistaken) prophecy, Tia was raised to be the future empress since childhood. Her dad is a single dad but didn't know how to deal with raising a little girl on his own leading to a cold estranged relationship. She is intelligent, beautiful, and very noble. But her nobility has also restricted her into being a bit too reserved. Tia, yearning for love and affection, falls for the Crown Prince who is for some reason very cold towards her.

Jieun, the actual prophesied 'chosen one', pops back in Tia's world sometime in their teens and supplants Tia, becoming the Empress, while Tia is relegated to 'queen' (basically a consort). Jieun knows nothing about being Empress and Tia ends up bearing the brunt of the responsibilities quietly and dignified as she was taught. She maintains an icy facade and ignores as much as she can while she is repeatedly humiliated by the Prince (now Emperor).

He resorts to physical violence by slapping Tia sometime later due to a misunderstanding caused by Jieun.

He then proceeds to rape her. And while author tries to make it look like Tia is 'only reluctant but eventually gives in because she believes this is all she'll ever get from him' -- I only have this to say: F*ck you, bro, it's still rape. He f*cks her with malice, hate and disgust. How else are readers supposed to interpret that?

She discovers she's pregnant right when Jieun accepts Emperor's feelings and they do the do. Tia suffers a miscarriage (under really suspicious circumstances, *suspect poisoned tea*). Emperor abandons Tia in her time of need. It is discovered that Jieun is pregnant with the Emperor's kid, and Tia goes a bit crazy before suppressing it all.

Tia suffers alone and quietly until her father comes to see her and she realises her father loved her all along but didn't know how to show it. Despite loyalty to the crown, he is willing to commit treason and take her away from the palace. He leaves her hopeful she will get out of this hell.

Tia's father is caught, and Tia begs for his life from the Emperor. He makes her lick his boot and kowtow, before revealing to her that he'd already had her father executed. Tia snaps and attacks him, and is caught. She is publicly humiliated and executed.

My advice, personally, is try to get through Chapter 1-6 and then give it a few more chapters to be pulled into the present timeline. If you find yourself falling in love, then keep going and give it a shot.

Present Timeline Spoilers:
Tia wakes up 10yrs old, showing evidence of trauma, and runs into the arms of her father. This starts the first change. The Commander is shown to be a devoted loving father, given the chance. (Honestly one of my favourite heart-warming father-daughter relationships). He is protective but Tia's happiness is still his priority.

She later meets Allendis, a genius and handsome boy, who becomes her first friend. Lots of supporters for this ship due the sweet nature of their budding relationship and the love Tia learns to have for herself.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Turns out Allen is a total Yandere. He's completely different if not facing Tia, and a bit of an obsessive psychopath. But he would never intentionally hurt her is craaaazy possessive and protective of her.

To avoid her fate to marry the Prince and deal with her fear, she learns the sword. She meets Carsien, a rash, hot-headed, honest guy. Also a ton of supporters for this ship because he's honestly a great guy and friend, albeit a bit rough around the edges. He's also quite protective of Tia (but not to an insane degree).

Tia becomes great friends with Allen and Carsien, in a really friend-zone way lol, while pursuing knighthood. She shows signs of PTSD whenever interacting with the Prince. Due to this, the Prince ends up thinking about her a lot.

To somewhat humanise the Prince, author gave him kind of a backstory: He also grew up in a cold household. The only one showing him warmth was Tia's mom (who died in, as of now, unknown circumstances to the reader). Prince's dad, the Emperor, and everyone around the Prince keeps praising Tia and how amazing she is. Prince grows to resent her (which I guess evolves to hate in the previous timeline). But due to Tia *changing*, he slowly becomes intrigued by her instead.

TL;DR:
If you can distance the Crown Prince of current timeline from the Crown Prince in Tia's past, this will pretty much be a standard good reincarnation story. Worth giving a shot despite all the cons. My rating is from personal taste but I think many would still enjoy this if only they'd give it a shot.

EDIT: This review is for the manga alone. Apparently the novel explained things clearer.

Perhaps Not for Everyone

At first, I was really interested in this story.

However, as the story continues to progress, I learn that she has little to no self-respect, she lingers on and assumes Prince Ruve's feelings and vice versa (even though Tia should be escaping from the shakles of her so-called fate; really, what was the point of the name 'Pioneer'?), and the plot seems long forgotten.

I really don't quite understand why everyone is so set on having Tia seated on the throne. I get she'd make a good Empress, but I don't think she particularly stands out, either. Also, it's absolutely shoking how little Tia knows. I get that in her first life all she did was remain within the walls of the palace and follow Ruve around, but like what the heck? All these characters keep popping up, and my god is Tia overdramatic:
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
in the most recent episode (94), she thinks that because the Princess of Lisa is pregnant, it'll result in a war if the other nobles were to find out. She also assumes that the Prince would be furious, which is an odd assumption, considering HE DOESN'T EVEN LIKE HER.

Fruthermore, I have an issue with how blind Tia is to the feelings of others, and to their personaltites. Take Allen as an example; he is far from the fluffy Allen Tia knows, and even Carsein pointed out that Tia should have realized what kind of person Allen really is.

Honestly, at this point in the story, I'm kind of tired at how things are turning out. There are a lot of things I wish to know, and when we do get a glimpse of information, it's lost because of some kind of interruption:
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
when Tia was in the Crown Prince's study, she was looking into her mother's background, but that got interrupted as soon as the Prince woke up.
I've gotten so tired of waiting for key pieces of information that I've resorted to looking through spoilers. Additionally, why did the author make out Allen to be the way he is? Out of all the male leads, I found him to be the most interesting
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
(even though I know he got close to her in order to become the head of his family)
, and then there's Carsein who is a very refreshing character. The Prince and Tia are way too similar, it's uncomfortable to read.

For those who stuck around for my rant, thanks! I may edit this post overtime.

Last tidbit: it would have been really interesting to see Tia aim for the throne rather than for her family house. Her competing with the Prince would have been an interesting story indeed.

I hate it , cause I loved it so much .. a cruel prince who made the MC see hell while she is alive .. yet they get to fall in love again .. f### it.. I can't tolerate playing with my emotions , I can't accept such an ending , well well I've been angry Cos of the ending for 4 hours .. it already 3h morning yet I can't sleep Cos of this sh### ending that ruined my mood .. I want a strong MC .. I thought she was but she turned up to be a stupid one who forgot all her suffrage . Who killed her father, who made her lose her unborn son ,who made her kneel down to kiss his shoes , who cheated on her , who made her like a servant for the Queen , who trashed her pride , who mistreated her .. .. this not about love or anything is about a woman's pride a woman's heart a woman's dignity , The MC threw all this away once she called in love again with the bas### .. if there's some to be loved, she should've fall in love withthe green haired guy who tried his best for her .. or the red one who also made lot of achievement for her .. yet she blush Cos of the psycho stupid prince who was jealous of her .. yeah he had a though childhood .. oh wait he didn't he was loved by his father , .. oh yeah and he already promised her mom to protect her . Yet he did the opposite , no matter what, she is just repeating the same past... Okay as a woman I don't like such a girl to represent MC. the art is good , the characters are so so , the process in which the story is developed is so slow , we are already in chap 78 yet nothing is clear only focusing on the prince (whenever I see him, I got angry) ... Oh and there's lot of things kept hidden. Whatever I lost interest and I'm so disappointed , really , I'm saying that as someone who lived within the story , I see myself as the MC yet it hurt not to be able to revenge... Author I never hated a manga/Manhua as this, Cos u made me have a high expectations of it , yet In the end u only crushed them .. my heart can't take it ..

I read up until that chapter with the spoiler
the author mustve been on drugs when writing this since even after making it look like shell live differently the female mcs 2nd life ended up just like her 1st life marreied to that trash male mc so basically the entire story can be summed up to chapter 1 and the last chapter everything else in between is useless filler that doesnt matter so i lost interest.

Read "Accomplishments of a Duke's daughter" instead, that would be my recommendation. It's the exact same thing done better, there are also others which plot are different but are similar, like "They say I was born a King's daughter" or "Daughter of the emperor".
This one starts quite bad, the story of all she has to endure in her first life is just too much for the story to later try to humanize the prince yet that's the road it takes (only read 30ch so far) and even after all that the MC is trying to figure out how the prince thinks and pending on every little detail of his life, that he looked like this, that he gets angry by that, that he despises her for some reason and so on and even hope to get him to feel for her or what he would think of her... He freaking killed your father, your unborn baby and you, and you care if he feels something for you? this is unbelievable.
You would also think she would have learned to doubt and wisen up on who to trust after all she's been through yet she's still the same idiot as before, annoying to say the least. And the further you read the more you'll realize that the MC doesn't have an ounce of self-respect, not a MC I could ever care about.
Really, it's hard to get interested in the story or characters. Also, just because she went out crying her life changed 180 degrees? everyone either ignored or hated her in her first life but magically no one can help but want to be her friend or pamper her the second time around... Yes, the emperor is interested in her because of the oracle, but that does not seam to be the case with the others.
Last, there are just too many things that don't add up, small things but they pile up and I get annoyed with all the little things that feel off and make me unable to take in the story just as it is, ej, the prince studies a lot ok, but how is it reasonable that a 12 year old prince has a pile of paperwork? How is the MC who analyzes every little thing of others not able to see the sudden change of personality of her only friend? She's brillant and 1 chapter later she's an idiot, pretty much no one act's like nobility much less royalty yet when convenient they have to check what they say or do, etc, etc, there are many little things that I usually dismiss but annoy me here,
Other than being cute there is not much going for this story and add to that that it seams the ending is terrible and I'd say I've had enough of it. Dropped.

While reading this it came to my attention once again that shoujo manga always have way too many complications, seams women love complicated romances, and on the other hand, shounen are all about instant gratification nowadays which is even worse, strangely enough my taste goes right in the middle.

Art is amazing, I really love it. The female main character... I like that she's smart and kind and hard working.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
But I wish she wouldn't made the same mistakes of her past life... otherwise, what's the point in going back in time?

I read up until Chapter 21 because there was a spoiler of the story's ending left by the translator, at the end of the chapter. It was a very, VERY disappointing and undesired ending, that I just couldn't keep reading, I dropped it.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
after everything that happened in her past life, all the trauma, it didn't matter because she still will end up with the Prince in her second life? The same Prince who was selfish, who raped her, killed her baby, killed her father, made her kneel and lick his booth and humiliated her just because his pride got hurt or whatever. What kind of ending is that? What's the point in going back in time? And the prince isn't even different in the second life... he still has the same awful arrogant personality. Ugh. So. Disappointing.

I have finished chapter 50 and read some spoilers from novel readers. I quite like everything so far, except for the ending I've been spoiled.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
So the female mc had a tragic and traumatizing life, and she was given a chance to relive her life by god. She then decided to live her life the way she wanted, and whichever path she choose shall be her fate. She claimed so coolly that she would choose her own way, and even wanted to follow her father's footstep and become a knight. As I was dreaming about a strong and cool heroine fighting against her unwanted fate, the spoiler just slapped me in the face. The prince who treated her so badly in her previous life, the one who abused her, killed her child, her father and herself, SHE CHOOSE HIM AGAIN??!! Well sure, he's been behaving better but he's still that arrogant brat who mistreat her out of envy. And also green boy the rival seems to be a yandere so that's a no for me too. I just wished that she would end up with Carsein that boy. He is quite arrogant, but kind at heart, although a little air-headed at times.

In brief, I will continue reading until I'm about to reach that one hell of an ending. I totally love the relationship between the female mc and her father, the knights, and the maids anyways. That's the one thing which is absolutely lovely about this manhwa.
