the story: amazing, it can make a perfect story that integrates Hilarius jokes with it perfectly.
art: great, has amazing add to detail, maybe too much though sometimes.
comedy: amazing, no more needs to be said.
10/10 what less can I give it?

Seriously I Love Gintama!
The characters, Gin and co. and their counter trio the shinsengumi and the supporting ones are hilarious and epic in terms of individual histories. 10/10 Just love the fact that this is an astounding pure comedy manga that makes me laugh my ass off TO THE EXTREME!

This manga is sooo good!!
It has epic fail comedy parts where you are gonna laugh so hard!
The storyline is soo cool!!!
And the fights for each of their arcs are so intense!!
I liked this more than naruto and bleach
It just got caught up in the middle of rise of those two mangas that it didnt become popular online,..
But hell ya! This is much better...
Not boring at all (^3^)

Stellar Gag Manga That Becomes Serious
by LazyReviewer
May 21st, 2023, 5:07am
May 21st, 2023, 5:07am
Rating: 9.7 / 10.0
First and foremost, this is a gag manga. Plenty of tsukkomis, puns, awkward and silly situations that often come quickly and often. It takes serious situations and makes light of them, but in an absurdist way. And then things get serious and you will ride that roller-coaster of emotions.
It often straddles the line between setting up or executing a joke and situations that are serious. And it usually does this well.
Characters are all jerks in their own way and also loveable in their own way. And they're often aware of it. Makes for a lot of self-deprecation and chaos.
It competed directly against the big 3 manga at the height of their popularity and held its own admirably. It has some of Shonen Jump's most memorable scenes (fight or otherwise).
The mix of alternate history, mythology and science fantasy is odd but makes for a memorable setting and interesting world building.
Really interesting but don't stop reading until you finish (keep with the story) because it does get to be too much to try and remember it and anything else.
Highly recommend.
Oh, and as someone who has been ignored by the dog due to the dog wanting my glasses, I know how gla—I mean, Shinpachi feels.

Has some of the best shonen fights of all time but overall an okay-ish series

Plot: 7.5/10
Very uneven plot: some epic, some emotional, some genuinely funny, some utterly disgusting and time wasting. After all, a long running series resulted in some recycled plot in itself. The ending arc was too long and exhausting to read. Sorachi is better with short arcs. He's good at creating oomph moment. But you can't have too many oomph moments simultanously. At the end, I just felt 'thank God, it finally ends.'
Art: 7/10
Nothing spectacular but it's alright most of the time. Character designs are stylish enough to distiguish between characters. Props to the author for not doing lazy art (unlike lots of shonen authors) for most of time.
Characters: 8/10
A large but engaging cast, especially the main characters. Gintoki is a such badass and down to earth hero.
Enjoyment: 8/10
Gintama is definitely an entertaining read, making you forget about your daily life problems without killing too much of your brain cells.

Update: Absolutely hilarious. Very easy to stop reading for a while then come back to. Funniest manga out there and it is a pity that Viz stopped publishing it. There is a good quality main plot backing up the manga, but it rarely appears. Just sit back and enjoy the ride

i have watched gintama (the anime) roughly around when the first season came out, within a couple of episodes, (The turtle episode to be exact) i stopped watching it. I have not read the manga, so this was new to me as well. Enough about me, here is my statement for this manga. Since watching the anime, I thought it was weird, and i was not going to bother wasting my time reading the manga, i have come to understand what a mistake that was. I am an avid fan of this manga, some of the jokes i probably do not get, as i am not based out of japan and i cannot get the irony, but most of it is quite funny. There is enough seriousness in this manga to catch the attention of readers, and there is enough funny and weird happenings to keep it fresh. I will be a loyal fan of this mangaka till the bitter end. Its a great read, if you have given it a few chapters, give it a couple more, it gets better and better. Whether you laugh, cry, it is one of my all time favorites, and i know it can be for you to, just give it a shot!
