Very Slow Start, but Things are looking up.

Having read and gone crazy when Shioon became strong and beat the shit out of the bully in The Breaker, I must say, !@#$%$!!!! I waited 40ish chapters for him to become strong, and now I have to continue to wait in this series -.-
TBH, the beginning is sooooo slow, but stick to it, and hopefully, it'll pay off.

i loved "the breaker" and followed this one because of it but seriously so damn slow its a second edition it should have no need to explain so much and there should be more speed. just read ch 42 its crazy that it managed to give almost no information and the guy isnt even close to being ready to fight even though it has about half of all chs that the breaker did

The Breaker was a pleasant surprise. New Waves...not so much

The original The Breaker was a really good battle manga, the protagonist was a weak person at heart (Bullying and etc...) and body (No martial skills at all, etc..), and was always growing. In new waves it's like every effort he did make in the prequel didn't metter much to the story at all.

He's weaker than ever, and just in recent chapters (65+) he's trying to get his lost strength back (He wasn't very strong back then, but at least he was stronger then he is now). He was denying his progress all these past chapters, it's just frustrating to the reader.

My rating for the Original The Breaker was a solid 9, but for this series i'm giving a 6. It's a good series, better than the avarege battle manga, but there's a downgrade in quality, storytelling and art (few and far, not that the avarege reader will notice much) from the Original.

Not as good as the first so far.

Original Breaker was very good. This one seems to be slow picking up. Nothing particularly fantastic or rubbish so far except for the art, which is very good overall, but it's struggling to live up to its predecessor so far, I feel. Stay tuned though, it seems to be upping the gears from now (Ch.53) onwards.

Revision: (Ch.97) Still plodding along. Kinda average by now, one of the main draws of the original manga was the actual teacher, the Nine-Arts Dragon, and his out of control character and *his* epic fight scenes, as well as his relationship with his disciple. Now that he's out of the picture, there haven't really been as many good relationships to carry this manhwa, or much good humour as the original had.

(Chapter 104) Dropping it for now. It's so mediocre and average it's not worth it. 100+ chapters in and no improvements, no hook, no depth, Shioon stopped being likeable once Nine-Arts Dragon disappeared - those two were a great master/student duo in the original, now that it's been broken up ... meh. Plus not enough Nine-Arts Dragon. Obviously.

So-so, for now

A bit too cliche currently. Almost like Kenichi. And I'm not happy about the new girl(s) because (while cute) I don't want the writer to drop Sosul as one of the main romance interest. (When she is cured.)
Also can't wait for Goomoonryong to return.

So the first 3 chapters are ok for standard shounen manga/manhwa, but not awesome as the second half of the first series. It's more like a beginning of a new series than the continuation of another. (Especially with the lame and weak protagonist.)

Have to wait some more to see how it will turn out.

it's still pretty good, but it's kind of hard to judge that fact on the fact that only 6 chapters are currently out. It might turn out as good as the last one, or it could be crap. I'm not really happy with the art, I kind of liked that realistic and depressing art that came before. Now, its too "anime-ish" The main character hardly even resembles the original...

I'm officially putting Breaker New Waves on my hold list.
27 chapters in and he's still like this!?!?!
I'm sick of excitedly expecting each new release to bring awesome news and being let down EVERY TIME! I'll come back to this Manwha in a few months and hope that the author has made something happen.

I agree with chudman kronosiam.
It has been already 11 chapters and nothing is really happening. The story isn't condensed. The only thing that keeps me hanging on to the series is the fact that part1 was very good(it had a serious WOW effect), the art and fighting scenes are really superb, top of the notch.

The fascination with this manga really left me 5~7 chapters ago. The author is dragging the plot and stretching it to squeeze from the manga whatever he can. It hurts the manga and readers and the main character who dives into his sissy being.

I am afraid that the author is following Kubo Tite and will turn this into another Bleach :/

To sum up.
Art is superb.
Plot is good.
Action, plot development and character development is really lacking.

If there was more action and meaningful plot development and character development, the entire manga would be a serious candidade for an epic manga and could be remembered like Vinland Saga, Berserk, NGE, Blame! etc.

This Manga Needs a Hero

Lots and lots and lots of supporting characters, but there is no hero. The mangaka made a big mistake. If he was going to go for "new" he should have had Shioon take off when Goomoonryong left. Then, he could have created an all new hero, someone the reader could identify with as he/she struggled to go from being ordinary to awesome. Shioon could have come back changed almost beyond all recognition---i.e he could have stopped being a wimp. I don't see why it was so important to keep a kid who was never that interesting to begin with.

Maybe I will just go back and re-read the first series.
