this is indeed a legend among the mangas..the character development wa sgreat and the plot was awesome too.. the artwork was not revolutionary but still, it was commendable. yeah it is a bit cheesy sometimes, typical of a shounen, but the overall combination of humor, action, romance and moral lessons were awesome..
I was saddened at the ending, as they parted ways and as i parted with them..i really did not want it to end yet.. i was actually surprised that the anime has the greater number of arcs than the manga..this one got only two arcs and the arcs about the underground christians and the one where they fought the knights and the other ninjas were not here..

I actually own all 28 volumes of this Manga....and this manga will remain as my favorite even after million years...that much I can assure you!!!!So...saying that much should mean something....so just try it!!!
This is a definite classic.
The characters in this story really are the deepest ones I've read, and not just the leads. I mean like _every_ character with decent screen-time could easily have a brilliant stand-alone manga. And of course, because it is a samurai manga, expect some truly amazing scenes with beautiful artwork and angles.
Even with 28 volumes I still want more...

The Kyoto Arc was the high point of the series...

One of the best manga series that I've ever read. It combines action with romance and historical content. The secondary characters are not there just for show, and have their own motivation, goals, and hardships to face. All and all, just a very good story.
The only that I have to say against it though, is that the first big arc of the series was more exciting and had more depth than the second and last big arc. Enishi had more connection with Kenshin's path, but Shishio was all around a greater and more terrifying villain. Also, some character development for the minor characters seemed to disappear in the final arc, for the sake of some comic relief though.
However, other than that, this story is incredible, and I can guarantee that if you even remotely like action or romance, you won't regret picking this up.

RK is by far one of the most enjoyable mangas i've read. It's full of passion, drama, intense fights, virtue, courage, and meaning there is no better word to describe it then a classic and is a must read for anyone who enjoys manga. As someone who first watched the anime then read the manga the manga is vastly more detailed and far more enjoyable. If you need something to read the 28 volumes of it will keep you easily entertained for a good time to come, a must read from me.

It was the anime that originally got me hooked on Ruroken, and the ending that made me hate it. Then I discovered the manga. As I was reading it in Japanese before the series was actually complete, it completely pissed me off that the anime decided to end with a filler arc rather than waiting for the manga to finish.
Anyway, Rurouni Kenshin is known for its inclusion of elements from many genres, and also contains one of the sweetest couples in anime/manga to date. The art style of Watsuki is excellent, and character design evolves to an extent throughout the series. Plot and deep characters are what really appealed to me, though the cool martial arts element and comedy didn't hurt. It doesn't matter if you're not a fan of historical manga or if you have no inkling of Japanese history - give this manga a try.

The artwork in the is stunning - the plot line - amazing. This manga has to be my favorite one that I've read entirely through. Amazing battle scenes, heart-wrenching events, and amazingly well done scripting and drawing make this a must read for any manga fan.
Amazing.

This is one of the best mangas I've read so far. The art, especially the scenery is spectacular. The characters have interesting pasts and they develope so much throughout the series. (The bad guys too!)
The action scenes can become a bit too long and drawn out, but the they are drawn and depicted wonderfully.
The plot is wonderful and the mangaka really captures the esence or the Meiji Era.
