I started reading this a while back. When I originally read the first chapter, I immediately dropped because I thought it would suck. I then came back to it. Best decision ever. I really underestimated it, it's amazing. The way it uses the no one is safe story point is awesome.
The first 100 or so chapters may be a bit bad but it gets much better after.
The way it's heading now is very different from how it originally started, but I still enjoy it

Absolutely, positively fucking beautiful. I had my doubts after seeing how the anime turned out, but the manga itself is a whole different story. Bit by bit you discover the mysteries surrounding Gantz and it's such a satisfying experience. I'm touchy about how I rate the manga I read, and Gantz is easily a 10.
One of the best I've read

Gantz hits the ground running with action and one hell of a story. Its changed a bit and taken a slight turn in story but still good. The art improves once it hits the mid 80 chapters. This is a manga I would recommend anyone looking to find out, just what happens after we die...

This manga is not for the faint of heart. It is bloody and gruesome, and it depicts several of the more disgusting sides of the human psyche. I found it particularly painful to read towards the beginning, simply due to the protagonist's personality at the time (I like him much better now) My recommendation is still solid; the manga contains stunning art and originality, and the plot is certainly an interesting one. I don't think there is a single point in this manga which did not contribute to the overall development of the protagonist.
Pure garbage, only it seems like I am not allowed to tell you about it

As far as this manga is concerned, notice how several attractive characters go on shooting rampages killing children and innocents, just like what happened a few weeks ago in Norway. It is just one small part of the whole monstrous agenda that is progressively making people dumber, meaner and unhappier (and easier to control).

They keep deleting the main points of my review, fascist bastards that they are. I encourage you sheeple to look outside the mainstream and WAKE UP.

Can you find manga better than gantz? Yes, you can - like Berserk. Well anyway Gantz is good... no, gantz is AWESOME but only because of the maincharacter. Osaka arc was boring and shitty and it made me almost skip the whole crap but I didn't do it because it's almost the same thing like kicking graves (to otaku world) and that's because the main character was dead.

I'm going to take back my former thoughts. This manga had a wonderful start however at some time, it drifted from it. The storyline is pretty good and the art is really nice. I can't exactly pin point the chapter that the plot shifted but the manga is still a good read (probably because I love with gore with a splash of romance, but hey, we've all got our own taste...)

I used to be a big fan of anything manga. I used to watch Chobits and Great Teacher Onitsuka. But one day I picked up Gantz and I simply couldn't find any joy in regular manga anymore. I needed something only dark and gorey manga like Gantz could give me. There is nothing I do not like about this series.
The black ball gripped me like no other manga had done since One Piece (Yes, I know, they have nothing in common whatsoever). The main character is an actual person, unlike the generic manga high schooler he has regular issues and regular wants. He doesn't only have them, he even gives in to them.
I've read several reviews pointing out how the series supposedly fails after a certain chapter. Lucky for me I can't agree. Granted I could've done without the vampire arc and "Cherry" but even they added to the story. I especially enjoyed the Osaka arc and I think anyone who can't agree with me should not read Gantz.
I would suggest this to anyone who wants something different then the run-in-the-mill high school boy with super powers and no psychological problems. If I offended anyone with this review, then you should not use the internet.

man oh man, the beginning of the manga was just a freakin roller coaster ride, and then these fukn UFOS had to show up and mess up the entire plot line. Damn I hate how such a god like manga can go to sht after a few years. Gantz is still a decent read, but hopefully the author decides to end it sometime soon and not milk it like another manga we know cough "berzerk"cough
