I've read it ...a lot.

I absolutely adore this manga. For one it's interesting to see the style change from the authors older works to the art in the beginning of skip beat. taking place somewhere in the future the author didn't do that bad because it's their take on future possibilities in a dystopian society, further more because this is an old work it's always kind of funny to see how different life is currently that how it is depicted.

The characters do get some character change Ryugi's was how he became less stoic he was still mostly stoic but he showed more emotion through the chapters. Tsukasa's was how she matured.
What I mostly liked about this is how the female lead was an equal to the male lead and not a sobbing hypocrite or fakely strong(in which the book tells me she's strong but the male lead still over takes her in power making it seem like she's weak and I was lied to). When she did fight there was times she save ryugi and times he saved her. In regards to this ryugi was nothing to scuff at either. He was cool and no weaker than the female lead which made it interesting.

My dislike of this series is the age. It says they are 14 they look 18. However this fact is easily looked over until they bring it up again. Also the translations because the translators did not traslate a couple of pages within the last few chapters which strongly bothers me.

All in all this is my absolute favorite. It has a high chance to be reread and loved.

most will like the plot

TCP has a unique story idea but is not a favourite of mine. The male didn't really have any character development - which was disappointing. Other than that, the story was fairly enjoyable, though it was dragged out in some parts, until it got exciting again in the second half to build up to the climax. I was okay with the art, but for those who mind proper body proportioning, beware. Their limbs can become outrageously long at times. Tsukasa and Ryugi, the main leads, also did NOT look like actual 14-year olds - more like 18. Other than that, the story was decent enough.

I can't believe I waited so long!!

I love this manga!!! <3<3!!! I cannot believe I ever put this one on the back-burner.

There are some comedy manga that I can quietly snicker to, but this one? … NO POSSIBLE WAY!!
I love this author's other work Skip Beat too (I actually read SB first) and yeah the art is similar (duh!!) but It's different in a way (it seems more angular and more shaded) and I love that!!!!
There is obvious tension, both relationship-type tension and violence-type tension (seeing as it's a yakuza manga) but it's more of a battle-comedy with love intermixed than a love-comedy with battles (however that would work) and it's refreshing.
The author never delves too far into the romance aspect but I didn't feel that is was lacking because of that. The comedic antics of the two main characters totally captured my heart and the range of emotion from each of the more prominent characters was very realistic (rather than the simplistic emotions displayed in most shoujo or avoided in some battle manga). It was all balanced quite nicely.

I didn't give it a full 10 because I rate on how many times I could read and reread something in a row (and seeing how I don't reread, or even rate, something that I don't think is done well in the first place...) and I know that the shoujo-esque would get on my nerves after the 3rd or 4th time lol.
BUT... I could laugh at Tsukasa's comedic relief every time.
I also felt a little lost sometimes (but that may have been due to translation issues) and there was a lot of details that just got skipped over or were deemed unimportant and excluded that I would have liked to know/hear about and that contributed to the slightly lower score as well. Though, it didn't take away from the manga very much to have those details excluded I just felt that I was left out (lol... though it's not like everyone else wasn't left out either but that's just how it made me feel).
Plus, this is one that I couldn't just start anywhere and just plain enjoy it (aside from the comedy) and unintentionally keep reading from where I started. The plot and the happenings are all intertwined, so I would need to read from beginning to end every time. That is both an asset and a drawback (but it's like six in one and a half dozen in the other to me; depends on what I'm feeling that day lol). I do like that there is nothing really unimportant that was written. Yes there is some flashback filler but it was often necessary; especially for those of us with a terrible memory or intermittent reading.

This is one of those that I could read and reread and love it no less than the first time I finished it! I seriously can't believe I waited so long to read it!!

The art is something of an acquired taste(it improves quite quickly after the first few chapters, but some may still not find it to their taste). The first few chapters in general are somewhat amateur-ish in many ways, but it really picks up quickly and is just an outstanding manga full of amazing plot and character development, and a lot of humor. It's fun, fairly mature, but playful. It's surprisingly dark at times, but it definitely won't make you feel down for long. If you have triggers involving drugs or rape, I'd advise against this as a read though.
It's a good story, with some sci-fi elements to it and the usual manga-style disregard for things like the laws of physics. I've reread it quite a few times, and it never stops being fun.

This manga was definitely one of my favorites. I love the love development between Ryuji and Tsukasa. The story line itself felt a little long (could have cut a lot of parts out) and the ending felt unfinished (a few missing details about what happened in the past) and not a very complete love story.

The reason this is one of my favorite is because of all the hardship and misunderstandings the main pair had to go through just to get their feeling across (seriously 19 volumes and near the end they finally has a chance at being together). It has its serious moments and its hilarious moment. Alos the art gets better (chapter 1 is really bad but it gets better).

Yoshiki Nakamura really knows how to balance, action, drama & comedy in a manga. Yeah there are lot of titles out there who have the same themes but they just felt force to me unlike TCP. I laugh with Tsukasa's antics, I cried when one of the main characters had to die, enjoyed the last fight scenes morever I feel the romance between the main leads. I really recommend this manga. It's very well paced. Actually I want to read more but I guessed all good things must come to an end so I just re read the series whenever I'm bored reading cliche mangas.

This series is great but it's sad that there were some pages that weren't translated in most of the chapters. I also didn't like the fact that she was naked more than enough times. Other than that, this series is great and I highly recommend it!

I'd had this in my To Do List for ages but I'd never gotten around to reading it. Now I'm so glad I did! It's a wonderfully written manga with very lovable characters. It had a very interesting plot and the pace of the story was excellent. The art, at first, looked a bit old fashioned, but that is to be expected. It's actually a great treat to watch how sensei's art became better and better gradually until it was almost perfect!

My take...

Other poster's have commented on the lack of reality re:the yakuza, character's ages, and lack of action/fight scenes.

The yakuza do have principles (a return to morals-I guess) Ryuji conts. to uphold his father's policy of no drugs and I don't have a problem with this since at one time there were strict laws that gangs upheld.

Both Ryuji and Tsukasa act older then their age but depending on the location and time when you are born you too would seem older or younger.Since are current time has girls that are 13 and younger looking like they are 18 I think that R&T fit the violent time period they were born to.

Lastly, this manga starts with a fight scene and has various others continuously through out, that are very violent, bloody and engaging.

This manga is by the same mangaka as Skip Beat so expect sparkling or puppy dog expressions and characters that turn into animals (which I love) there is one scene with a dancing fish that still makes me LOL when I re-read this title. My rating:10/10

My only complaint is regarding the translation.I have not read the current releases that are up to vol.10 but the one at onemanga has pages that are missing dialogue completely or untranslated which is very frustrating to a reader.I REALLY want this to be licensed and an anime would also be great.
