Great characters but...

Tough to follow. A lot of the story deals with how long lived vampires would have to deal with long term politics and effects of living alongside humans without using their uber-powers to simply dominate humanity.

That said, if you CAN follow it, this story is beautifully written.

beautiful ending

I actually cried at the end of this manga.. and usually I'm the type who doesn't cry for ANYTHING. the main character of this manga is too perfect and amazing- I couldn't help crying for him
it almost seems like most of this manga is mystery-uncovering the past, and discovering more amazing things akabara had done.
I honestly did not care much for this manga until the later chapters, but the ending is seriously beautifully done- enough to make me cry even with the excessive perfectness of the main character that usually makes me scoff at the unrealisticness of the manga.
BEAUTIFUL ENDING biggrin

Lingering Regrets

I initially gave this series a higher rating and now came back to change it. Sadly, the main character, Akabara, fails to be real by the end of story. You look at him and feel numb, dumbfounded even, because someone like that doesn't exist. Every single part of this story is a tragedy that makes Akabara out to be a martyr; at some point you'll wonder whether he chopped off his own leg so a cripple could walk again in 3rd grade. If you think of the story like that then nothing will surprise you.

It's still an interesting read and worth trying if nothing else has piqued your interest.

Good manga

IMPRESSIVE.
So many twists, and every twist is tragedy, but not a cheap tragedy.
And it's hard to find a hero as perfect as Akabara.
At first, it's not too interesting, but after volume 3 or 4, I can't leave it...
The artwork developing nicely, get better until last chapter.
And it's a nice last chapter, nice closing.
Then, I salute the author for making a chara like Akabara...

So ive enjoyed the read. A storyline with many twists that keep me turning and anticipating. I like almost all the perspective of the story, from the art, the story, the characters, the twists and turns, the style, etc.

But 1 thing i must say is it was too complex piled into one. I actually slimmed through most of the useless parts. Would perfer the story to be more well organised, where the art aint packed and jumbled so much.

All in all a 8 for me.

Really glad i found a manga such as Vampire Juuji Kai. It was complex, deep, had many twists and turns, a story that does not bore and awesome charcters. I was pretty much satisfied with the end and it defintely lives up to being a tragedy.

However, once the the whole truths comes out and all the conspircies are debunked, it looses its luster just a little but other than that, this deserves to be read.

Extremely well done

This work of art truly is a well done piece. The story is so deep and complex, and with so many twists and turns, I was surprised the mangaka had actually pulled this off without making this fall apart, and using cliche and cheap fan-service tactics to attempt saving the the series.

I give kudos to the mangaka for also accomplishing those twists and the increasing complexity of the story without using any twisted/messed-up material, and yet keeping those who read this engrossed and ready for the next moment of the plot. Sure there were a few unexplained moments and extremely minor plot holes......something this complex and this great is near impossible to pull off without any(heck there is no such work with a plot without plot holes). A great mystery indeed.

In addition, the characters are amazingly magnificent in representation, presence, development and purpose. He truly utilized all the characters, and did not kill any of them(I mean plot-wise, not life). He also managed to create an extremely dynamic character, who was at the same time static as well(an insane achievement, I am not telling who it is, READ IT)

The last thing i will say is this.....i think the author purposefully employed a shoujo-style artist for this.....just to give it another twist, which is great since the story has already achieved all the good points of a shounen manga, yet also considered what shounen lacks and took care of it...and also bringing this to the intellectual level for seinen as well........Due to this this manga is now in my top ten

At first, like many people, thought the art was not for me and the story seemed cliche, but as I read on, which I encourage everyone who thinks the story won't be a good read or would be if etc happpened, it's just great writing at it's best. Theres a lot of dialogue, a bit lack of action scenes, but other GREAT scenes that make up for it. This is one of those "what just happened, how did that happen and why is it happening to this guy.." kind of thing and man the plot twists just keep coming.
