Has the things that made me love the anime

This is the anime fillers minus the amazing artwork and animation, because it has the quirky style and the offbeat interactions and the absurd arcs. Characters, even though they don't grow anything whatsoever, but they are true to themselves.
So it's obviously unobtrusive to the main storyline because manga adaptation of this kind never takes it anywhere interesting. But I am really happy that instead of retelling the anime clumsily like, say, Gosick, it's going with original and thoroughly entertaining materials.

FACT: The anime came first.
Samurai Champloo is a great series. The anime is edgy and daring, some of which is pretty difficult to transition into the manga, though that shouldn't stop anyone from reading the manga.
With that said, the anime and manga technically shouldn't be compared to each other. Rather, the manga should be considered as an extra for those of who are looking for more champloo. The comedy is great. It likes to poke fun at Mugen's recklessness and Jin's good looks, which somehow makes the characters all the more lovable. BUT, for people who are looking for character development and a continuation of the story will be disappointed.
Overall, the manga is great. The author did a great job at transitioning the characters onto a 2-dimensional medium. The sense of humor is great, but it's a shame that his talent will be overlooked because of it's comparison to the anime.

Whether you prefer the anime or the manga usually depends on which you were exposed to first. But in this case it's possible to enjoy both, for different reasons. Of course the anime provides a killer soundtrack, great animation and, surprisingly, a decent English dub, but don't cast the manga aside! The art may be rough, but the manga's got a light, absolutely ridiculous feel to it and can really make you laugh. It's sillier than the anime, and I like it for that, unfinished or not.

Man, completely something different from the Samurais that I've come to know.
Fairly interesting and entertaining.
The art is also good and awesome!
A wild journey every once in a while ^_^
