From Viz:
Humanity, having faced extinction at the end of the 20th century, would not have entered the new millennium if it weren’t for them. In 1969, during their youth, they created a symbol. In 1997, as the coming disaster slowly starts to unfold, that symbol returns. This is the story of a group of boys who try to save the world.

This is simply the best story ever told im my opinion. If you're a fan of giant conspiracies and plot twists, then this is the story for you. No book, movie or videogame comes even close to having a story this perfect. I fell in love with Monster when I first saw the anime and thought that nothing could ever top it. But I can now say with confidence that 20thCB completely blows Monster away, and that's not easy to do considering how great Monster was.
I don't read much manga. What I have read I wasn't very interested in, compared to the corresponding anime series. But 20th Century Boys gripped me so much I couldn't stop reading. It's difficult to find appropriate words to describe how compelling the story is. Urasawa proves that he is a genius with this series.
you cannot rate this lower than perfect
I started reading and had to force myself to even take sleeping breaks
Naoki Urasawa has written an insanely amount of very good mangas; but this is his ultimate masterpiece imo
Sublime characters, a story that captivates you even after its over.

I've read an unthinkable amounts of manga. This has been one of my favorites that will never be knocked out of my top ten.... Once you think you have started to figure it out it takes another turn spinning your head but feeling as if there was no other way to go... don't anticipate while reading this.... this story will excede whatever you dreamed up and put you somewhere else, loving every minute of it.
If you haven't downloaded this series make sure you get on IRC and check it out. If possible (and i know some people don't have the cash) buy it. I honestly believe spending money on this manga will make you happy.. somehow.

Many people like to say that their favourite manga is "teh best magna evar!!", but most of the times it's just a case of the reviewer not reading many titles. However, 20th Century Boys is the best manga I've ever read ever since I started reading manga in 1990, and it might just really be the best manga ever.
It doesn't have a lot of fighting, it doesn't have bodacious females in skimpy clothing, it doesn't have pretty young men, it doesn't have over-the-top humour, it doesn't even have anyone who comes from another dimension. It simply has wonderful art that conveys emotion in a real way and a very carefully crafted plot, with mysteries and surprises in every chapter, gripping you tight and not letting you stop reading until you run out of chapters.
I have recommended this title to all my manga-loving friends, and every one of them cursed me afterwards for causing them to stay up for nights to read all chapters in one go.

This manga is truely exceptional. It leaves nothing to be desired. The art is amazing and the story is both mysterious and exciting. If you have read Bananafish you are sure to enjoy this.
