Exactly when is this serie gonna end?

I haven't been updated on the current chapters for a while, but it looks like I'm not really missing anything as the story hasn't progressed at all. I admit, Vampire Knight was one of my favorite shoujos when I first started reading it, but somehow, it just all went downhill. The revelation about Yuki's true identity, the vampire vs. vampire hunters crap, and what the characters have become really pisses me off. Not to mention the dark demeanor that this manga is trying to give off to the readers is getting quite old, it gives me that dark, heavy feeling for some reason.

The characters...I don't think I can emphasize this enough, but I hate most of them. Yuki used to be one of the heroines I really liked in shoujo, she was different and charming, now I think she's just yet again another one of those annoying shoujo girls. Then there's Zero, whom by far is my favorite character in VK, but he also ended up as someone that would make me think, "Oh, here we go again" with all his antics. I don't want to go further and analyze each and every character, so I'll just generalize. The fact that most of the characters here tend to just centralize themselves on one problem about their life really annoys the shit out of me.

Art wise, that's the only thing left to enjoy here. The details are still precise and character and costume design never falls short of expectations.

This is really a waste. It started out as a good serie, but then it just went all down hill. I don't even know why the hell Matsuri Hino is still dragging this out, 15 volumes is way more than enough for some vampire shoujo. However, although I really dislike this manga now, I'll still give it a decent grade as the beginning was really compelling, and it was enjoyable around that time.

It was amazing and heartwrenching as it reached the end of the last arc.. but now I don't even know what's going on anymore. She's just throwing in little plot twists here and there that make me think, "Are you serious?" I don't know, I just hope it ends soon.

...What happened?

What happened VK?

The begginging half was fine but...

There are so many issues going on now in this manga and normally that wouldnt be a bad thing right? Well, not in VK's case. Theres all this talk of conflicts and love issues, etc., etc., that its sad that the only thing that im vaguely interested in is how many words can they shove into one speech bubble before it just looks like a jumbled mess of letters.

Between the boredom and the millions of speech bubbles (and wow, is 'speech' taking to a more literal sense in this manga) explaining mass amounts of 'important' imformation about whatever issues, I just couldnt take it anymore. I found myself skimming through most of the story. It got to the point where I had no idea what the hell was going on. So like the inpatient person I am, I dropped it. Instead of feeling interested in whatever kaname was 'speeching' about I felt more like I was being read a 500 page essay that could easily be summerized in 4 sentences. Manga should have ended with the anime. Though I cant say I enjoyed that ending either.

Totally different from her previous works

Read like only one volume and stopped. Maybe it's the vampires who kept me at bay, but I know mostly it was because the characters lacked emotions. If you compare her previous works and to this series, you see there's more smiling and other stuff. I know this is a serious series with all the emo and angst and all those dark emotions, but I felt all the characters were pretty stiff and uptight most of the time.

I can't really tell people if they should read this series or not, but if you want a more relaxing series with more happy moments, then you should read her previous works

Yaaay...... hmm

Not to be biased, as I found this to be a pretty good manga, but I'm not going to go fangirl here. Overall, this was not bad. I can't say it's generic, as it's the hit of most vampiric graphic novels. It stands, (or stood,) as a representation of vampire romance.

Art: It's sweet, with gothic representations. The girls are pretty, the guys are loved. If you're looking for a hit with good art, this is for you. (Don't forget /vampires/ with good art.) Warning: looking at gothic styled eyes will get you slightly frustrated. And also, there are about three expressions. Happy, angsty, and neutral.

Plot line: It changed, but it was interesting. There is incest, and it became a real turn-off. The past... 10 chapters I believe, went slow, with no real goal in mind for how the end could be rounded off. I believe this should have ended around the same place the anime ended, except formulated not so abruptly. I wish it didn't drag.

Characters: Sorry, but they're done. Zero seems the same since the beginning, and Yuki has the same face and "pain" for the same scenes. Kaname bears the same unduly face as well. Flat for the most part, with bursts of angst at some points.

It was funny, in the beginning, and it was slightly tear jerking. (But I'm a wuss, I know.) I'm not bashing the looks of the main characters, only the context. (So don't fangirl me D: ) The plot line should have died a while back, but if you want to read some romantic edgy vampires, go ahead... for now. biggrin

Vampire Knight is not as bad as people say!

Spoiler (highlight to view)
I loved the Beginning = The Art is simply amazing! The development between Kaname and Yuki just makes you scream " KAWAIII! KYA KYA KYA" and Zero is an AWESOME alley. But then.....the incest.....made me quiver with digust and fear. BUT since i loved, LOVED Matsuri Hino's Manga's i continues to read VK. My overall comment : I like it...ALOT! You have to take into account that Kaname and Yuki arent really brother and sister, infact ansestors and they are vampires, so they dont abide by the human nature of things. (And yuki has aways seen him as a man so when they find out their "sibling" realation, she dont give a poop). And the romance just grows more and more intense.......and not just between Kaname and Yuki. (hint: ZEROOO) highly recommended!

Thank Goodness For Reviews & Spoilers

Whoa. My first post.

I picked up VK because a friend of mine raved about it and I trust her judgment. Unfortunately, she missed the mark. This is just my opinion, but here it is:

A) To me, the art is okay, not fantabulous like everyone seems to say. Their heads are all shaped like spinning "tops" -huge on the top and "ice pick" pointed chins on the bottom- and their eyes are enormous to the point of looking silly.

B) The plot seemed okay, at first, but as it progressed, it just felt a little boring to me (And I like shoujo and vampires, but this just didn't click). I started skimming pages from the first chapter and that's never a good sign.

C) I like Zero. I liked him from the start...

Spoiler (highlight to view)
and that's why even though some people should have placed their spoilers in highlights, I'm still grateful that they spilled the beans. I admit, I can be a pairing brat and I'm not really interested in seeing Yuuki get with Kaname.

D) I like taboo manga a lot. I love the angst and all the things they have to endure to be together. However...

Spoiler (highlight to view)
in this, I completely disagree with the incest, and the history of the parents being together, too, makes me feel a bit sick.

E) It's a very long manga. Having been a victim of InuYasha, I'm not trying to invest that kind of time into another manga, especially when it seems to be dragging on for the sole purpose of just being long. Like InuYasha...

So, because of those reasons (other reasons exist, but these are enough), I'm dropping this one very early on.

Needs to get moving

When I first got into VK, it was a deterrent because of the art. By chapter 3 I absolutely loved it. Everything was going good, until, well it started going downhill after the whole Rido thing. The incest thing was weird, but I try to see it from a preserving-their-legacy thing, which was important to them. Not much different from our royalty of old..

i just really wish shed move (author) and get into the drama or action or something. Frankly, Yuuki is just annoying me now, Kaname (who I never liked) reminds me of that Edward guy from Twilight. and Zero... He was my fave but he needs to get a personality or something at the moment. I still strongly recommend this manga tho.

Dissappointed and BORED

Wow, i used to really love this manga.. I liked the art, the story, the characters, pretty much everything. But now as i read more and more, i've gone from being excited to just reading it so that i can finish it and be done with it. Its just dragging on and on with more and more meaningless twists being added only to make the story as long as possible and totally destroying what couldve been a really good manga. I have to say im really dissapointed.
