Description
Every night at 10, Dong-gyun locks himself up in his room, grabs a box of tissues, and watches a live cam boy show hosted by Alex, a BJ (broadcast jockey). Timid Dong-gyun admires not only Alex’s ripped body, but his candor in sharing his sexual experiences with viewers. One night, Dong-gyun downs too many drinks at a school networking event and passes out. When he wakes up, he’s in bed staring up at a shirtless hunk. A hunk who looks an awful lot like...Alex.

Ah, this is one well made manhwa with realistic characters, an okay story and solid art. Sadly, it's too vanilla for me and while I just read it, I can't say I was touched and enthralled by it, nor that I will think about it a great deal. But it's still a very worthwhile effort! I cannot stress this enough, it's a recommendation for sure, just be aware that this is far from the crazy, extreme yaoi I personally prefer (Beat must die and Passion, looking at you). But these quieter interim yaoi are for certain good too. Uke and seme are both multi dimensional chars, and I was genuinely interested in how things would turn out. And there is no glaring omission in here. Except it being a pretty low key work with normal characters, which is not my style, I can't think of a single thing that was a complete miss. Kudos to the mangaka!

I admit this entire series had me on a rollercoaster of emotions as I feel like it would've been much better if the main couple actually like never got together because by then I was oddly invested in the 2nd couple more. It's a shame since it has pretty good art but Jiwon is just super toxic toward DG for like 80% of the main story. It feels like the moment he did get "better" it was way too late for readers to appreciate it.
DG is just super naive and I feel like I was reading about an HS student rather than a college one who kinda of just got over being a doormat despite like all his friends telling him how terrible Jiwon was to him for like every interaction.
Also, the adult streaming gimmick felt p pointless like why did Jiwons start with this particular hobby like did he not consider how it could ruin his entire life and p much everything if his real identity was found out despite him trying to be a perfectionist on campus.
I guess the art was cute though 🙁

The top MC (Ahn Jiwon) is such an asshole to him in the start and middle of the series but holy crap once they got together they were so cute and had such wholesome moments....I'm glad I kept reading!!!!
The writing, the pacing, the art, the smut scenes, main characters and side characters were so good! Great that there was character development on the part of Ahn Jiwon and how cute he became later on. I loved the character designs!! Especially of Dong-gyun and BJ MD. The art was so apart and unique. The last 20 chapters or so really killed me with how sweet they were to each other and the people around them to them....The start of the series, the middle and the ending was so strong. I loved the writing and all the team who helped out the author to create an excellent story.
Looking at the current ongoing series Jinx (Mingwa) by the same author-nim you can tell they really have a specific taste for a male bottom and male top lmao (cute, innocent light haired MC vs hot asshole black-haired MC who treats the bottom terribly at first).
Ahn Jiwon & Dong-gyun
The side couple: I'm actually glad the author didn't focus e.g. 1 entire season on the side couple. The amount of chapters/side stories we got from them were sufficient enough. Not surprised since the focus was on the main couple.
In essence the two issues that the author tackles with the two MC's respectively are:

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
At the start of the series Ahn Jiwon was such an asshole to Dong-gyun, but then again it was made clear by him what type of relationship he wanted from Dong-gyun (friends with benefits). The development from "I don't want a relationship" to "wait I thought I would be happy we are over, I only ever wanted a fuck buddy relationship" to finally "wow I do love him" was done so well. Both of them recognized that they fucked up (one more than the other) so neither were innocent for the reason why they stopped being friends with benefits. Their relationship got SO sweet and cute when they became a couple...."your very existence comforts me" omg......
I will say a bit of a pity the author never reintroduces either of the MC's parents into the current story. But then again we know Ahn Jiwon's parents were terrible to him and were the reason for his "mask" he wears everyday on campus. So there was no reason to cover them meeting Dong-gyun or Ahn Jiwon again since it wasn't the focus of the story, just a contributer to current personality of Ahn Jiwon.

[2nd complete read]
“BJ Alex” holds powers of structure, presentation and attraction. Scenes and scenarios feels lively. It never gets overly bogged down in the drab and dreary. It feeds you just enough character transformation, smut and pander to keep you reading. It works, it’s enjoyable, but I’m tired.
The confluence of story beats that keep this body functioning could not be more rote. Development in far too many manhwa is conditional on the presence of the viewer i.e. Dong-Gyun still being stiff as a board upon meeting one of his old friends, previously disgusted at his homosexuality. Surely there are more directions this sort of meeting and resolution can be tackled from? His reactions plays into the character we have seen in the story so far, but it doesn’t speak true to the reality that even just a handful of years can be impactful in the way in which one considers and reacts to their “trauma”.
My mind immediately goes to the best in this and tangentially related genres I’ve read. “Cheese in the Trap” does the psychological off kilter perfect boy much better than “BJ Alex”. Yoo Jung is manipulative and vindictive, and those elements don’t necessarily change through out the run of the story, but he does develop and recognise that people don’t view that aspect of himself positively. Alex on the other hand shifts so wildly from hard to soft boy that it just seems arbitrary if you don’t buy into the preconditions for his “growth”/”change”.
In fact, concrete identities is something “BJ Alex” struggles with generally. Apart from the instances of uni-dimensionality (the overweight bully lol)… Dong-Gyun is obviously a pillowy soft boy, but I’ve read a commenter praising his ability to be confrontational when required. However, he generally leaves me wanting. Not necessarily because he doesn’t seem like a character with some dimension, but because he isn’t viewed as needing “fixed” in the same way Alex is. This is understandable to an extent. Alex is a right royal cock and gets abusive for no good reason at points in the story. But personally I have always detested a lack of recognition in the negatives associated with being overly nice and easy going. Personalities have positives and negatives. This simply adds to me finding Alex’s personality shift jarring. A soft boy made hard through the trauma of a previous relationship. A bit boring. A bit unbelievable.
“All About Lust” is an example of a smutty yaoi manhwa that builds concrete, interesting identities for it’s characters, while also veto’ing the requirement for them to be damaged by their homosexual identity. The characters hobbies and interests even factor into the start and development of the relationship! This is completely foreign to “BJ Alex”. After all, what do the main pairing seem to care about apart from each other? What are their hobbies? How do they spent their time outside of each other? You can extract some information, but not enough from the total run of “BJ Alex”.
Ultimately I understand that these stories are created for straight girls, by straight girls. They are also created by Koreans (manhwa duh), which is a cultural atmosphere that I have no knowledge of as a born and bred Briton! But as a G A Y M A N I am highly fatigued by the picture stories like this draw of the le gay experience. I am not normal by any means, not even when compared against the average homosexual, but coming out is something that one moves past relatively quickly once it originally happens. I have lots of good heterosexual male and female friends, and the quirks of our relationship are a myriad more interesting than anything I’ve ever seen presented in a manhwa. I just find my own experience poorly reflected on and done little justice when it is spelled out by these authors.
In conclusion, I enjoyed “BJ Alex”. All prior compliments hold, and the sex scenes are really good. But as my time is increasingly sucked into the blackhole of full time work, I am becoming even more of a stickler for “MORE”. I really enjoy romance and yaoi manhwa, but I want MORE. “BJ Alex” is physically invigorating, but not spiritually or intellectually.

Well ~ i personally didn't really like this, i guess this is very overestimated because the characters are handsome and the plot is generic and obscene, it's like the type of "seme hates uke → uke likes seme, they have a discussion → seme realizes that he likes uke and uke forgives him → the rest its just "oh look how they are a lovely couple".
It's not my type of plot but this isn't is the worst that i even read 🙂

This had way more plot than I expected! But also, way more cringe. I felt so much second hand embarrassment in some parts that I had to pause a few times when I was reading. Anyway, I wasn't too sure about this one, especially at the beginning, but I started really getting into this after they set everything up. I really enjoyed the chapters in the 40s to 50s.
