The background is an unknown medieval era where there are three countries. Among the three countries, there is an island country called "Ramira". The empire, Ramira, is where most of stories will unfold. There are generations of princesses, and the first 27 volumes set the story for the eventual regaining of Ramira by the greatest Empress of Ramira, Preia, who was beloved by the people and had many loyal men under her.

This is a great read, if you exclude the fact that the long political discussions get on your nerves because the writing's small. =3 It might just be because I'm too lazy to read it.xD I might be one of the few that like the melodramatic scenes in this series.=OOO

A lot of prophecies but altogether too much tragedy and ill-fated meetings. The clique passing by but not-realising-who-he-is parts. But still a much loved story nevertheless.

I read this most of this series, in one sitting, and it was a bit overwhelming! For some reason, I really dislike the main woman, Bii, because she's always whining about being with her love...Setting aside the point that I really like tomboy-ish characters, I really thought that Eishield(sp?) was the best character. Too bad there weren't too many plot twists...All the characters have a complexity that is slowly revealed in this series. The art is, in my opinion, beautiful, in exception to the noses =( ; they were weird.

The series is good and i recommend this series. But the art of the mahwa seems to get worse later in the series and the story is complicated. This is a story for those who aren't people who read the simple romance shoujo manga and can understand the story.

Glad to see it being continued by the scanlator. Though I'm not even done until the latest scans. So far I'm in Volume 19. I understand it's going to be even more melodramatic from this point onward. I can already see it, that 'fate' intertwining two people, kind of corny for me as I have thought it could have been better portrayed than that cheesy part between those two new generation lovers. Other than this small stain, I've found it quite enjoyable. I feel for most of the characters (but not the main ones of the second generation, astonishingly). The plot and intrigue is not suitable for young minds--and I mean intellectually. The passing wit will just do as it did--pass right through their eyes without taking anything. Kind of predictable most of the times, given enough data, but there are still a lot more to keep it juicy. Definitely a recommended read for those who cringe at most shoujo manga.

As someone mentioned it is very much like soap opera, with a huge dose of epic mixed into it. One thing that was noticeable for me @ the begining was the art, its not exactly the best thing, but I would say it's better than some manhwa's out there. Also, once you get used to the style it does become pretty afterawhile ;P.
Anyways, the story is awesome! Sometimes it does slow down, but what can I say, you still will want to read on and find out what happens. And since its more novel-like expect the shift of main characters, although disappointing at first, it will definitely become lovable, especially the second part (hehe, you can tell thats my fave).I'm hoping the author shifts it back to my other faves in vol.28. X3

Princess is not for the Weak minded

Like many have posted already before, "Princess" is a very complex tale of Love, jealousy, hatred, revenge and a whole mess of other things. If you are used to, the simple romantic Shoujo boy meets girl plots then stay away from Princess.
To put it frankly, Princess story plot is for mature people who can handle in depth tales of pain and sorrow. I really wish this manhwa was turned into an Anime it so would be brilliant as one.

Incredibly complex and full of politics and intrigue. The story is a lot like a Chinese soap opera -- long, angsty, romantic, with many characters and settings. However, the series can seem to drag for impatient readers or readers who don't like angst. The idea of "fate" figures heavily into this story.

However, the author has done a masterful job interweaving the stories of the various characters, mixing the past, future and present. The length of the series makes this story into a great epic which is much more worthy than any soap opera. Yes, it's often over-dramatic, emotional, and too tragic to bear -- but the beautiful art, the complex plot, and the strong characters all stand out. Definitely recommended, one of the best (if not the best) manhwa out there.

Finally, I'm surprised that some people complain about the art. There are so many characters that it is easy for some of them to look similar, but I've never been confused. If you look closely, the backgrounds, especially buildings, can be incredibly elaborate and detailed, more than any series I've ever seen. Even the costumes are well-researched and it's not even as if each character wears the same outfit often, as it happens in a lot of series. Although there are sometimes perspective flaws, Princess has the most attractive art that I've seen in a manhwa.

Squandered Potential

The author's guilty of too much melodrama, and too much foreshadowing. All those panels wasted on characters whining about their unrequited/star-crossed love, destiny, fate, etc. etc. when they could have gone to story development. The foreshadowing infuriatingly enough never gets capitalized on. However, the political intrigue aspect of the series was quite interesting in the way that it didn't just focus on one country but explored the different characters' motivations in each country. The art has two main things going for it: the costumes and the backgrounds. Both seem to be mainly western european in origin, but from eras that favored ornamentation rather than practicality; in other words, a lot of eye candy. Very important to note that it treats girls more as property than people, which is historically accurate, but it does alienate the women depicted from a modern day perspective. It's easier to pity them than sympathize with them.
