It is not your run of the mill BL story with smut elements or poorly written plots for the sake of catering to the BL comminity and spoon feeding them!
It's a manga with a beautiful story and gives the reader some taste of reality, as failures happen, people get rejected, people have unrequited loves etc.
And finally the way the Father embraced the son as he was disheartened and helped him and lead him up till the joyous ending was also very touching and optimistic despite the sorrowful beginning

Gawd, cried. I really cried. Absolutely beautiful and awesome. It is works like these that restore my faith in the BL manga community. This is definitely one of the best, and unique, coming of age stories that I have read, and I am not just talking about the BL stories. The tenderness, and the fortitude shown by both father and son is truly remarkable. I also love how this achievement of happiness is an intern-generational setup, because often at times it does take a generation for changes like these to come about. I am quite delighted with that. Simply, love.
Bittersweet but optimistic

Ooh, now this is a non-conventional coming of age story. It's not a rosy road filled with only successes; you learn from your failures and grow as a person in the pursuit of happiness. Bittersweet indeed but that's life for you. I like how the story's melancholic undertone gradually turned into something more hopeful and positive for the future.
