Description
Average, unremarkable Ai Maekawa navigates school life unnoticed... until one day when a spiteful classmate totally humiliates her in front of everyone. Determined to jettison her embarrassing past, she overhauls her image and enrolls at a new high school where no one knows the old Ai. From the start, Ai is the target of romantic advances and jeolous gossip—can a formerly invisible girl handle this avalanche of attention? And is Ai's erstwhile identity as a loser really as far behind her as she hopes?

Middle schoolers...really.

The whole 'women need to hand over their virginity to a male otherwise they're not worth anything' idea threw me off in the first chapter. The main character seems to have no redeeming qualities besides the fact that she's serious...and even that is only because she wants her love interest to pay attention to her. Maybe it gets better...who know. I sure don't care to find out.

I like it. Despite it being very superficial and rather cliché it's entertaining at times, and did keep me going through all its volumes.
The art is very nice.

I wouldn't really recommend it unless you're rather into shoujo though...

I actually enjoyed this manga very much. Despite it being superficial and such, its humor kept me laughing throughout this whole manga. I've already read it twice and I haven't gotten tired of it. The jokes are funny, and the heroine is annoying at times, but you end up cheering her on anyways because she's strong. Well...I can't say much for the guy character though...wish he had more of a character...other than this playboy.
Despite the bad comments, I don't think this was a bad manga. It seems superficial on the outside, but it has some truth. (Cold hard truth...) Especially about how people think and feel about their outer selves and how other people look at you.

to be honest, i thought the series wasn't all that bad- the premise was interesting and more original than a lot of the others..

sadly, the main protagonist male is a douche bag. he really didn't have a redeeming personality, in my opinion..

the ending also had no closure. TT-TT

I didn’t really care for this manga, but since I only read through chapter 3, maybe there’s something I missed. Generally, I didn’t see much point in rooting for the main character. Her personality was pretty bad and the love interest wasn’t any better. I distinctly recall several times where it seemed like the author was trying to say, “Hey! Look! They’re actually good people!”, but even in those instances they came across as jerks.

I guess it’s good that the protagonist took a proactive stance about improving her life but that’s on a purely logic-driven level. Emotionally, I couldn’t care less about her or any of her classmates. And while she was a unique shoujo heroine, it was in the way that peanut butter and tunafish sandwiches could be said to have a unique flavor. Different? Yes. Good? No friggin’ way.

This is absolutely one of the most horrid series I have ever set my eyes upon. The emphasis on superficiality is nauseating. The main male lead is one of most dull characters I have ever encounter and the female...I don't even have words to describe her.

The only merit of this series are the comedic parts. But honestly, there's a difference between confidence and shallowness. Makes me wonder if this mangaka has the same mentality as her presented characters, as superficiality tends to make a re-occurring appearance in her work. Perhaps her intention is the opposite, but that is not the message I'm getting.

Wow, Amazing Manga

I put off reading this for a long time because the blurb made it sound superficial and cheap. Was looking for something new, and stumbled accross this, and since I didn't have anything better to read at the time, gave it a shot. 1 chapter in, I was hooked. Ai is amazing. Tough, determined, yet fragile as well. Has the amazing ability to transform from average to gorgeous, when she puts her war face on. Having fallen in love with a guy, she goes all out to keep him. She is easily one of my all time favorite heroines in manga. Much different from the weepy, whiny, wilting girl who always needs to be saved. Ai is tough, and doesn't put up with being mistreated.

I enjoyed the humor, as well as how real the girls relationships are. Unless you've known some girls, you have no idea how catty they can be, and indeed are. Particularly when they're fighting over a guy. The subtle, biting innuendos, the sharp humor. The rage and anger, all is expressed in this manga beautifully. Only thing I thought would have been better, is if Ai realized finally that So just wasn't worth it. Lots of other guys out there, sure theres another one, perhaps not as good looking, but who at least would be faithful to her. Even still, excellent manga, one I'm definitely going to add to my collection.

Spoiler (highlight to view)
I read the reviews here and I almost didn't read Doubt!! because of some of the bad comments. But I did end up picking it up because I liked the mangaka's other work so much, and I'm glad I did! Doubt!! is definitely one of my all-time favorites now.

The idea that beauty is only skin deep seems like it's all the story's about, but actually, I think the mangaka is trying to say that girls should have more confidence in themselves. Like, Ai was an ugly girl before she made herself beautiful, and the fact that she never gave up and took action instead of just wallowing in self-pity is why she's such a great heroine. I actually really like this message and that's part of what made Doubt!! very fun to read. As for Ai's relationship with So, I do think it was weird she fell in love with him so quickly even when she knew he was a player, but I don't see anything wrong with her later actions. She truly loves him a lot and will do anything to keep him, and in the very end, she was even willing to let him go so that he can be happy. Yeah, So was a player but he remained faithful to Ai the entire time, and towards the end he only chose Shuko because he felt sorry for her, not because he loved her instead of Ai or that he didn't care about Ai.

I thought the ending, although a bit sudden, wasn't unsatisfying (the mangaka said herself that the series was cancelled and she had to change her plans and end it). The last few pages of the last chapter were really cute and happy, and I think it was better than dragging the series on.

Doubt!! is a very funny manga. A lot of times while reading it I was bursting out in laughter and slapping my legs. The art is ok, I didn't like So's drawing but oh well, it didn't make the manga any less enjoyable for me. Some scenes, Ai is drawn really pretty (esp. the scenes where she gets mad and starts yelling at people... my favorite part of the manga.)

To me, Doubt!! seemed to have a pretty strong feminism vibe and Ai is definitely the most hilarious, strongest and most determined heroine ever. The other characters were great too. I just think that people should give this manga a chance: you could end up loving it like me.

I liked the manga and didn't like it at the same time. I do agree wit most of the people here about the ending. I didn't get why her friends are cheering her on over a guy that she was been with for over two years, that end up picking another girl TWICE! grr i rarely like So at all through out the manga. i liked yuu more but he didn't even try.... i liked ai personality when she tells how hardd she worked but i felt she was trying soo hard for So and for all the wrong reasons. you think that because you were so called "ugly" before you want a guy to look beyond the appearance but So seem like he only liked her because she pretty.

This was a great series up to the last volume. From the sounds of things, it got canceled suddenly, and so the mangaka kind of threw an ending together.
