Would you all still say no if you knew that you would have to face God and give an account for your life when you kick the bucket? Knowing that everything you have ever done good, embarrassing, horrible, kind, wonderful, mean will be displayed right before your eyes. And then being asked why should I let you into heaven?

why you ask something like this? are you thinking about death? confused

Mind, no.
Instinct, yes.

I die, I disappear.

Are you sure there's that much difference between Mind and Instinct?
The power of the latter is strong enough to effect the first one.

So I think not being scared of dying is unnatural or just hypocrisy. Unless you're some religious fanatic that is.

Between my mind and instinct there is a gaping hole.
I would not say that not being afraid of dying is all that.
What I've learned from my life is that pretty much every
attitude or feeling can be changed.

Now that's a good thought. Don't you think that being hung upside down from the rooftop of a 100-story building might work wonders on people who "aren't afraid of dying"? As you said, attitudes or feelings can be changed. Just a small reflection about all the things you hold dear, all you have, all you still have to achieve and accomplish in your life might be very effective.

Not much. Scared of dying more than being dead, because dying will most likely hurt.

I really want my last words to be: "Onward, ho!"

I believe in Jesus (and follow him, or at least try), so it's not like I have to think about earning my way into heaven. smile

Those people are just covered with their bravery but they
have not truly reached a state of mind where they accept
death.
Your point's basis is that one enjoys life and truly
holds life as the 1st priority thing.
However, if we say that the person does not base
everything to life and enjoyment, then those roots
will grow a tree not even near alike.

hu.. an interesting topic for a change biggrin

In my case, scared isn't rly the word for it ... it's just that I have so many things I still wanna do arround here (not just manga reading smile

that it'd be sad a a wast if I'm gone ... :s

My ideia is that as life evolves you adapt yourself to the idea of death as you'll go and do the things you wanna do with your life

why does everybody answer yes? i'm afraid of dying, i almost never think about it, but if it comes down to it, i wanna live, cause none has ever proved any kind of afterlife. the way i see it, all those different religions with their different afterlife promises, are just some weak stories for people who are afraid of dying and need something to hold on to. even if it is "heaven or hell laugh " remember, if u sin allot, you are looking at torture for all eternity in a place nobody has ever seen, that burns eek

I agree with you and also Shattered.. eyes

Hmm, I find it weird that so many people voted for no.. confused But that's because you still have your life ahead of you, so you don't worry about that.. Even when you're 40... I still consider that as having a whole life before you..

I don't think that you realize the gravity of 'nothingness'.. The world will just go on, and you'll fade away from time.. Just a tiny speck in the universe that once has been.. But, technically, the world doesn't go on.. Because you're gone.. You don't have any thoughts or opinions anymore.. So the 'world' doesn't exist for you anymore..

Just think about the heaviness of not having [i]any[i] thoughts, what so ever.. Think about losing the 'you' that you have built a lifetime for to complete.. It'll just fade away into 'nothingness'..

The only thing you can hope for is to be remembered by your loved ones.. but unfortunately even they have to pass on one day.. So the only thing to make sure you'll be remembered is to write your name in history.. Like the old emperor of Rome, Caesar.. He may be gone, but he'll be remembered for as long as the human civilization will continue to exist..

Also, this 'message' is meant for non-religious people.. laugh So to the religious people.. Just believe what you believe in.. I admire that.. eyes

This seems to be a general consensus, but I'm not really afraid of dying so much as how I die.

I think that everybody should say if they believe in a religion or not.. Because if you believe in a religion, of course you're not going to be afraid..

I'm not really scared of dying, (but I am more scared of how I will die, example: torture, etc.), of course I wouldn't give up everything and cut myself when I get sad because something got wrong, etc.
( and I have known people who have so many problems and still decide to live and I find that very brave and also some who because of one whimp they just want to throw all away)

I mean, everyone dies eventually.no

Also, I think that the fact that most people find it recomfortable the fact the when we die, we stop "living" and become nothingless, but even if you don't believe me, I HAD met spirits and trust me, you keep your mind and soul but get rid of your body and you still can see what others do and they've told me you have to supress your fears you didn't do in here, etc. also you evolve and (don't know really well) become more in contact with god. I guess that bad people, they're punishment is like to not evolve or something, not to be beaten up or something... I know it sounds strange, specially if you don't believe in god or something but believe me, you'll see it when you die
jiji roll eyes ...

I think that, to not be afraid of dying is almost imposible, because everyone wants to live and complete their dreams,so it's something good to not do things that you will regret, because you kept the feeling and can't move forward by saying "if I hadn't done that..." and also, the only things that your friends and family keep at the end is they're memories with you and what you have taught them, isn't it? or so I think, so I better not waste my time biggrin
