Don't you think that for a person who introduces himself as somebody who hasn't read much manga that statement seems presumptuous? And even if you were somebody who did indeed read that quantity of manga, don't you think that it seems offensive to say that for every "good" manga there are at least 10000 crappy ones? (And not to mention that you're saying it in a manga dedicated site?)


What that article says is that sales of the Japan's domestic manga Anthologies have gone into a decline (and that article is specifically about the sales of Weekly Shonen Jump). That the sales of manga anthologies aren't as high as it used to be doesn't mean that the majority of manga is "crappy" nowdays. In my opinion, it has more to do with the economic (To follow a title through a manga anthology is a lot more expensive than buy the tankoubon directly) and demographic (Japan is experiencing a severe underpopulation problem due to its low birth rates) situation of Japan. In fact, in the same page that you gave, there is another article (About Kids who can't read manga) that has the following statement (Who seems to support my former theory):

"...It's true that anthology magazine sales are going down, but sales of graphic novels are doing well. This means that we are seeing more and more people who only read certain favorite titles." explains Yoshimura.

It seems that the genre that you like the most is seinen (Although the shounen titles aren't so far behind). And specifically, you seem to enjoy the action orientated ones, so I'm surprised that classics like Me and the devil blues, Eden: It's a wonderful world!, Zetman, Shamo, Hellsing, Shin Angyo Onshi, Akira, BLAME!, Monster and Skyhigh aren't in your list. Perhaps if you could give us more information about your tastes I could recommend you something (although I don't think that is necessary, since you should be able to search new titles to read when you've read enough manga to be familiarized with the milieu ).
