i've traveled a lot, but i'm not particularly fond of it
...i prefer man made structures to nature though for the most part

i also prefer road trips to flying, you miss out on the scenery, though sometimes it can be drudgery

I've never been out of the country. But I go to New Orleans, LA every summer for who knows how long, it can be 3 days or a whole month...
But it's really fun there! Mardi Gra! Or however you spell that!

Mardi Gras, baby. New Orleans has one of the largest festivals in the world for it and it's also one of the craziest.

But really, I want to go to Europe. Which part, I don't know, but I want to get out of this country and see something else. My Grandpa is from Germany and he can describe the castles like he just came from there. I want to see them, I want to look at the castles on the hills, see people fishing on lakes... watch sheep graze, for goodness sakes!

I've only been to Austria, Czech Republic and Monaco... no I've already made plans to add Spain on that list by next summer since my plans this year were thwarted...

The countries I'd really love to visit though are Iceland, India and China...World-travel?! That would be awesome!!!

I'm pretty sure I've been to half the countries on the planet.... my former profession used to involve lots of traveling.... seen some really nice places, met some nice people (mostly).... but most memories have been sex, drugs and alcohol related. laugh

BTW.... I hate flying.... I'm not scared of the actual sensation... it's just that I hate putting my life in the hands of another person when it comes to modes of transportation.

Been all over Europe + New York and Chicago(+outskirts, like Oshkosh). My favorite is probably southern France. Lovely mindset the people there have. Like having a drink after dinner together with the police, then everyone gets back in their cars and goes back to work. laugh (true story)

Lots of nice castles, caves, landscape etc there. Northern France is kinda nice as well, especially if you're interested in WW2 like me. But it's very different from the southern parts. Most of the tourists seems to go to the northern parts like Paris etc, so they treat tourists more like.. Tourists... In the south it was a more open feeling. ^^

Atm I'm kinda uninterested in traveling though, guess I'm been saturated during my younger years : / I even declined a free trip to Austria and choose to sit on a rock on the Swedish west coast oO Was kinda boring.. none

Because of my job, got to travel a lot, so I've been in all continents. Once in a year , being a volunteer, I have to visit countries, where need some medical helps. Oh dear, it breaks my heart everytimesad Btw, I like travelling (for holiday) especially Southern France, nice flair, delicious food and wines, and lovely scenery and of course friendly people.

I've visited Paris, Switzerland, Garmish (Germany), Italy, Bejing, Seoul, Churchill (Canada; polar bear capital of the world), North Korea, had a 7 hour layover in the Tokyo airport (if that counts), Hawaii, Daytona, Orlando, New York, Chicago, Washington D.C., Key West, extremely far north Wisconsin and Michigan (pracitcally in Lake Superior and right where the two states are almost interchangable), the Twin Cities (Minnisota)...that's all I can think of off the top of my head.
I've also "lived" in Alaska, Virginia, Tampa (Florida), Wiesbaden (Germany), Taegu (S. Korea) and Savannah (Georgia; and we constantly go back for vacations) but since I've never lived in the same place for more than three years in a row, it's more like "extended vacation" in my mind.

That's a real illogical fear. Planes are amoung the safest Modes of transportation around. If your scared that the plane will crash or malefunction, just think how many checks and how many people service the same plane every time it lands? Besides that, when was the last time you heard of a plane crashing??

If your scared of putting your life in the hands of someone else, think about who's driving. The person flying the plane had to go through 3-5 years of studying planes, how they work, aerodynamics, and had prepared for almost every situation... Just to GRADUATE.
Now compare that to your parents, who drove a car for 6 months to a year, got a license, and have been driving you around. Think about how many car crashes you have been in, or your parents have been in. The fact of the matter is that the airways are alot safer than the freeways, because there are professionals in the sky, and normal average joes in the streets.
Some people are horrendous drivers that threaten the lives of everyone within 100 yards of their car. There are also plenty of distractions on the streets because it is more crowded.

I could go on... I might have to if your still not convinced.

Dude... I know all the fucking facts... it's just one of those psychological things I've never gotten used to since young... whether flying, in a car, pillion on a bike...etc.

Did you have too much sugar-coated cereal today, perhaps?
