My WU terminated early because it encountered some, according to the log, "Simulation instability". It says it's either a result of the simulation or stability issues on my computer. I think it's because I pause/resume and change config often .
At least it still gave me points and now it's working on some "p3044_Human Hpin1 mutant 4" protein. They're going to cure cancer patients and give them special powers, woot~!

I found this page that has a list of all folding proteins and the score you get for each one, pretty handy:

Sounds interesting. I might have to set it up on a few of my computers.

I should be set to go at work now too - computer's only in use ~10 hours/week during the summer, but it's old/slow, so may not get a whole lot done. Ah well, every little bit helps, right??

I guess they don't like sharing their CPU? Or maybe the proteins being made from the people helping will put them out of a job? ;) But maybe their work on computers is so little that they don't think it would make a difference.
OR they WANT to get cancer and Alzheimer>_>
Uh, don't think so really. But if they want the first, maybe they could pick up smoking. :x I'm NOT promoting smoking a positive light at all though. But in a really cynical case, we could also thinking that helping to cure cancer is for our own future gain, since maybe being in front of the computer so often might be a source. :x But there was that article I heard of entitled "Living Causes Cancer", I believe.

Cancer is a mutation, in most cases a mutation in so called houskeeping genes (controlling for example the mitosis). Mutations are caused by mutagens, like alkaloids, transposons or gamma radiation - and many, many others. So yes, living causes cancer. Optimistic, huh.
@Delta_Eagle - you monster
@Manick - 50 WU's? you're monster too
@Takiko - unfortunately, there's no uniwersal cure for cancer and there won't be any. Almost each case, cancer is a different disease and therefore even if someone finds a cure for a certain type of leukemia, it doesn't mean, that he will cure all patients suffering from it. Noone wants to get cancer, believe me. People are just being stupid.
Got myself a funny protein this time. p1169_frozen_ribo_288k. It has two chains (anyone has/had a protein with multiple chains?).

Haha, my younger chewed me out saying things it's stupid to let the PS3 on run 24/7. Asking if it'll save lives, which will right? I know it will>_> He can be so pessimistic at times... I'll just keep it on because hell ... if it does save his life.... he might thank me. Which would never happen because it's going to take a long time to figure out how to cure or slow down the Alzheimer things.

Well, if you're gonna let it run 24/7, just don't let it overheat...There's no guarantees of course on saving lives, but we're trying! I should spend some time recruiting more people. Maybe tomorrow...

@blibli - lambchopsil is right. you could install a program to control the temperature of your disc. i'm using HDD Thermometer (freeware, very simple, it only shows the temperature and alerts you when it's to high).
Take care of your computer.

How can you tell if it has multiple chains? Or is it something you can tell from the graphical client?
Ah...I just noticed I could of set this up on one account instead of two...Well, I guess I can take two spots on the rankings XD.
