The ecchiness does take away a bit since I have trouble recommending the manga to some of friends due to too much of it. The manga version is not as bad as the anime. Seriously, I think the anime has more ecchi scenes or they focus on those scene more than the manga does. I couldn't stand watching the anime, despite the bloody scene looks better.

I didn't like the ecchi in this series, felt it was over the top and not very sexy in times, (how the hell are two girls wearing weird cow outfits (http://www.theanimegallery.com/image/91087) supposed to be sexy?) and since this series is simply the manga/anime equivalent of a sexploitation movie (the "story" is a joke), I wasn't interested.

One word: milk. It's a joke based on the size of their breasts.

in my opinion it takes away from the actual story. I think that if the echiness was imited and not of every other damn page, it would have been a series I would have continued. It's sad too, cause the plot and art and everything else was awesome.

I find it pathetic and somewhat dumbfounded by the fact that people are still bitching about the high levels of ecchi in an ecchi series.
Stay classy, everyone.

i think it hurts it a little actually...... I don't like it when ecchiness invades upon action scenes and ecchiness in general can ruin the mood of any should-be-serious scene in manga.
But then again im a girl so im not exactly one of the "target audience" created by ecchi

ditto.
i've only watched the anime, but for me ecchiness doesn't really mix with serious scenes. like in a scene when the characters are literally running for their lives, the last thing i want to see is panty-shots. it takes me out of the suspense of the scene

It just feels a little... impractical...
If you die by one bite, why are they not wearing pants?
My first reaction in that situation would be to get some decent protection.
It wouldn't have to take away the sexappeal either, a girl can look good in trousers to...

I disagree. First of all, they don't exactly have the luxury to shop when they are inches away from death. Secondly & more importantly, clothes have obviously not helped 'protect' anyone so far, hence, they are useless. Thirdly, it is called HIGH SCHOOL OF THE DEAD, isn't it?
Also, skin is king.

I really don't care, i do think that too much ecchi kinds of make you lose the history, but as some already said, this is a manga made by people who used to made H mangas, it would be really odd for them to drop the ecchi..
To be honest i'm not reading this manga often ( i read a chapter from time to time), it kinds of repels me, but that is just cos i'm not such a great ecchi manga fan (i keep reading it both cos i like zombies histories and cos i don't like to droop a manga), but is not like it have to change just because some people don't dig it.
