Oh, I always thought newbie was for new comers and noob was to describe someone who wasn't a newcomer but played like he was, in terms of skills or etiquettes.

Yeah, that too... But the term is widely used now, even not for its approriate meaning... Sometimes they just say noob to annoy you and feel better about themselves.. While you are 50 levels higher or something.. >.>

I like to call people "boob" then pretend it was a typo....then do it again.

im not entirely sure but rich text is a microsoft format that is only supported by a few applications while html is pretty much common and the default format for writing messages. we are probably using html to write messages in this forum

.cbr files are basically renamed .rar files. If you have WinRAR it should open the file easily.

Very few things come in .cbr files, so I can kinda guess at what you downloaded. biggrin

HTML is Hyper Text Markup Language, it's basically hidden coding in a web page that explains to the web browser how the website should look.

Rich Text can be considered HTML in a text file that is being read like a web page. For example, if the HTML in a file was coded to bold a word, and it was opened as a Rich Text file, instead of seeing the code, you'd see the word bolded.

What is it that people find so attractive/compelling/whatever about vampires? confused

To me, they're blood-sucking parasites like mosquitoes...which makes me want to whack & squish them... laugh

I also don't get the appeal of eternal life. Living forever while the world changes dramatically around you & everyone you know & love grows old & dies just doesn't sound that great to me. dead

I have read & do read some vampire manga, but only if there are other factors of the story that look interesting - I won't read something "just because it has vampires".

I think people are attracted to vampires because of a few reasons. One common stereotype for vampires is seduction. I'm not sure about those from way-back-when, but the female vampires in "Dracula" were all supposed to be quite alluring, if I remember correctly... Another reason is that many vampires seem to be born from humans with enhanced abilities, yet keeping most or all of their humanity.

As for eternal life, perhaps people desire it because they are afraid to die. Or, they think they could accomplish/attain more, given the time. Some might also attribute it to invulnerability.

And if the blood tastes good, all the better too. Otherwise, I don't like vampires at all.

.cbr files are basically renamed .rar files. If you have WinRAR it should open the file easily.

You can also use CDisplay or another comic book reader if you don't want to extract the archive. And flip side, you can change the extension on a rar to cbr and use comic book reader on the files.

First thing: blood
You'll live only as long, as the blood flows in your veins. In many cultures, blood is considered the most vital part of the man's body, some even think that the soul, feelings and memories are carried by blood. Almost all vampire movies&books show that a vampire is able to take some energy, strength and memories from his victim.
The color of blood, deep red, in some of the European countries has been reserved for the royalty ( this color was considered the most beautiful, most lively ).
Spilled blood is treated as a sign of danger ( loss of blood=possible death ) by a human's brain, so even the sight of blood can make your heart beat faster.
Second thing: predators vs prey
Hunting is stimulating. Hunting a human being = forbidden, therefore even more stimulating for real predators. Weapons of choice? Seduction or rough violence...and vamps are usually so cool when they're hunting laugh
Whatever side you're identifying yourself with, in the situation vampire vs human, you'll surely find something for yourself ( fear can also be exciting).
Third: inversion
Has anyone ever wondered why movies usually show a male vampire? This is a perfect opportunity to create an interesting ( what is meant to be disturbing ) inversion of situation -> the man takes vital fluid from the girl, instead of giving it to her ( there's more to it, but it suits adult section, not the chatter box :hahasmile.
Fourth: immortality
Even if peope say they're not interested in it, they are at least a bit disturbed by the idea of immortal creatures walking the earth and sucking blood of innocent girls laugh ( rivalry factor or what? laugh )
Fifth: cool and sexy image
Dracula in the first movies about vampires was terribly ugly. He was bald, had fangs about 5 cm long, long claws and he looked like a corpse after few days of lying in the grave.
And now? Vampires are hot.
User Posted Image<- a vamp from 'Blood Ties'

Also: mystery, superstitions, dark secrets, etc etc.

I'm not saying that any of the things I listed is responsible for vampire mania. It's more like they all create that alluring image...
And you just have to love the way they smile and show their fangs!

The only problem is...

vampires don't exist.
