I'm bored... and I have a campaign I'm supposed to be working on. And a bunch of other stuff of course, but I'm ignoring that now.

Anyway. I was wondering if anyone out there played much Pen'n'Paper.

Nope. I tried to be dungeon master for my sister and her friend's once, and I lasted five minutes before I realized I wasn't smart enough nor had enough patience to even get through the rules.

I can't find much fellow DnD players around here, so I haven't played any campaigns seriously within the last few years.

I have the 4.0 rulebooks but I'll probably never play with them, 3.5 has better settings and whatnot. (Don't "fix" what isn't broken.)

I started playing 4th ed. around October/November last year. I've also DMed once, but that was one of the Dragon adventures which was extremely poorly written.

I'm currently writing plot, but I go rather slow and I have crap all imagination. I also need virtually everything to be pre-scripted because I can't do things 'off the cuff'.

Currently on my fourth character because we keep party wiping; although one of my characters survived but was left unconscious in another plane somewhere.

Our main reason for party wiping is that someone doesn't turn up for D&D and doesn't give any notice (same person every time), is too sick to play or is scared we'll kill her for blowing the head off of a tribal leader we were trying to convince. It's never just one problem either, we always have several occur at once. So we walk into an encounter designed for four or five players and we have to try and do it with two or three.

Got back from D&D a few minutes ago. We blew through the entire plot for the night (7PM - 11/12PM) in just two hours. We kept doing things that the DM didn't expect, such as me (Changling Rogue) not getting caught and killed by guards when trying to steal a key. Or me having +11 to thievery checks, thus succeeding on what the DM guide calls a 'hard' skill challenge by rolling a 4.

hells yeah. used to play all the time back in like 8th grade thru high school. but there are no super geeks in my dorm

Yeah, just started playing a couple of months ago with D&D Encounters on Wednesdays and have also started playing on Thursdays with some of the people from Wednesdays. Here's probably the most 'interesting' thing that's happened so far:

First off Perrin is a Halfling Cunning sneak rogue and my character, Azarai, is a Moon-elf Eladrin Swordmage|Artificer. We had just arrived in the city of Myth Drannor. I went to the armor shop to trade my scale Delver's armor for a leather version I could actually wear, and Perrin went to the weapon shop to buy a +1 hand crossbow. He tried to haggle the price down from 400 to something cheaper, and the shopkeeper seemed to have something against halflings. So when he failed in his haggling he resorted to intimidation by pulling his knife out and taking a step towards the shopkeeper. The shopkeeper rang a bell summoning three city guard archers. Perrin went with them rather than resist. When they got outside my character, upon seeing Perrin being led away by the guard, inquired what was wrong. I was going to attempt to see if I could talk them into letting him go with a warning or just a small fee since he was a part of my party. Perrin decided to run while I was talking to them, seeming to think that the guards wouldn't notice him leaving since he rolled a 30 on his stealth check when I'm sure at least one of the guards would have had an eye/hand on the prisoner. I had JUST said he was in my party, who do you think they would have arrested if he had somehow escaped while in the middle of a city full of guards, archers, knights, and wizards? Not to mention he was only a level 2. So I decided to join the guards in trying to capture him. He double moved, one attack of opportunity against him, which hit for nine, then it was my turn. I move 6 squares, Fey Step in front of him, mark him with my Aegis of Shielding, and then action point to use my punishing eye power.

"You conjure an eye in a square within range. Enemies within 3 squares of the eye do not benefit from concealment, and when an ally attacks an enemy within 3 squares of the eye and hits, that enemy takes psychic damage equal to your int mod (+4)."

Then it was the three archer guard's turn: Pin-cushioned halfling. The thing is, is that the 12 damage from the eye was what pushed him over the - bloodied value killing him.

The last time I touched D&D was in high school when some friend dragged me back. There's a lot of talk of D&D in one of my lectures "Fantasy and Horror"...

I've never played, nor have I ever met anyone who plays. I always thought it seems interesting though - if I ever meet anyone who plays I may ask them to teach me.

lol in that case we would not have moved on from AD&D ... 3d edition killed everything that was fun and made d&d into something completely diffrent
